We are looking for a hands-on Video Test Engineer. This is a hands-on position. This is NOT a remote or hybrid position. Veterans welcome!

BASIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute test plans to create formal validation and verification documentation for multimedia hardware, firmware & software products.
  • As part of a test and verification team, work hands-on individually or within a team to support development and project engineers, program managers, Manufacturing and Sales teams, and our customers on the design, development, troubleshooting, testing, release, and sustaining of BCI and third-party hardware, firmware & software used in high-performance digital multimedia products.
  • Test, verify and validate product hardware, firmware & software, including executing, and documenting test results, using both manual and automated testing as needed.
  • Perform and document formal Validation and Verification testing, including interoperability, emissions, safety, environmental, accelerated life cycle testing, etc., pursuant to compliance certification to 60601.
  • Resolve product failures by analyzing failure reports, devising, and executing experiments to reproduce one or more failure modes, and systematically localizing root cause(s).
  • Design and develop product and system test and verification plans, methods, processes, fixtures, automated test jigs, scripts, and demo and test systems.
  • Document and analyze test results to generate detailed test reports for both internal and external review and stakeholders.
  • Contribute input to schedules and task breakdowns.
  • Generate and review technical content for internal and external documentation such as datasheets, user manuals, test methods and processes, etc.
  • Contribute to organization of common and dedicated lab work benches, storage, mechanical tools, 3D printers, and electronics tools and supplies.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & KNOWLEDGE:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience testing multimedia hardware and systems.
  • Hands-on, demonstrable experience and solid working knowledge of most or all of:
    • Multimedia test equipment such as Quantum Data, Audio Precision, PHABRIX.
    • Standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.
    • Basic Python to understand and modify complex scripts and write simple scripts.
    • Experience with bug scrubbing, bug tracking, and bug tracking software.
    • Building test units, harnesses, and jigs using mechanical and electronic assembly.
    • Multidisciplinary bring-up and debugging techniques and approaches.
    • PC (Windows/Linux) and Ethernet network/IP network setup and configuration.
    • Fluent in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel).
    • High speed video interfaces and protocols (composite to 4K60, HDMI/DP/DVI, SDI, SDVOE, streaming, color spaces, standards and temperatures, and timing & synchronization).

SKILLS, ABILITIES, & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Solid Electrical Engineering background with the ability to read, understand, create, and edit multimedia PCB schematics, with basic FPGA/SoC/processor and memory system knowledge, familiarity with power subsystems including linear and switching topologies, and a practical understanding of high-speed serial interfaces.
  • Strong team player who can work collaboratively with a diverse team to identify root cause of complex system problems, for both internally reported failures, as well as customer RMAs, using Ishikawa/fishbone analysis to find effective, practical solutions quickly.
  • Detail-oriented effective communicator with excellent customer-ready documentation and communication skills and ability to develop, use, and socialize document templates to streamline processes.
  • Ability to provide completion time estimates for a given set of test requirements.
  • Ability to work with very little supervision, prioritize between multiple tasks, meet aggressive deadlines, and work extended hours (as needed).
  • Willingness and demonstrated ability to self-learn and work in new technology domains.
  • Highly self-motivated.

PAY RANGE:

  • $80,000 - $110,000 annual base salary. Pay may vary depending on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
