Key job responsibilities
We are seeking a truly innovative Data Scientist to guide our release slate optimization strategy and build new solutions that allow us to optimize our slate of content for all Prime Video customers. This person will help us improve understanding of customer content and genre preferences using ML models. They will also develop a framework for generating meaningful insights from Programming Strategy’s vast data.
As a Data Scientist on this team, you will have the opportunity to work on one of the world's largest consumer data sets and influence the long-term evolution of our analytics capability. A successful candidate will have a strong proven expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and experiment design, along with a solid practical understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of various scientific approaches. They have excellent communication skills and can effectively communicate complex technical concepts with a range of technical and non-technical audiences. They will be agile and capable of adapting to a fast-paced environment. They have an excellent track record of delivering impactful projects, simplifying their approaches where necessary. A successful data scientist will own end-to-end team goals, operate with autonomy, and strive to meet key deliverables in a timely manner, and with high quality.
About the team
The Prime Video Global Programming & Insights team owns the strategic perspective on overall programming and scheduling across originals and licensing. The group delivers consumer insights, constructs audience strategies, builds the portfolio, and schedules originals and licensed programs to drive service-level customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. The team values diversity, collaboration, and learning, and is excited to welcome a new member whose passion and creativity will help the team continue innovating and enhancing customer experience. On our team, you will work in partnership with a Principal Data Scientist on a team of business owners and Product Managers, Business Intelligence Engineers, and Data Engineers. You will work in close collaboration with central Data Science and Economics teams who also support the organization's mission.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of data scientist experience
- 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
- 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques experience
- Experience with causal inference and/or experimental design
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company
- Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, Sagemaker, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, and EC2
- Experience working with GenAI and LLMs
