Cox Enterprises is hiring: Newsletter Producer, (AJC) in Atlanta
Cox Enterprises, Atlanta, GA, United States, 30383
Empower people today to build a better future for the next generation
Every weekday morning, readers across Georgia wake up to Atlanta Journal-Constitution newsletters in their inboxes. They rely on these newsletters to relay the biggest news of the day, help set their agendas for the week and put a little Atlanta-inspired pep in their step with surprising and delightful content that connects them to the city.
As the AJC’s newsletter portfolio expands and evolves, the AJC is looking for a creative, responsible, early-morning producer/digital newsletter editor to help make the inbox experience as great for the reader as possible.
This person is responsible for polishing and sending A.M. ATL early in the mornings, partnering with the A.M. ATL writer/host to help further establish it as the must-read newsletter. They’ll produce and refine the newsletter — securing art, links/context and more. This person also looks beyond the A.M. ATL brand and helps curate, coordinate, produce and send other newsletters in the AJC’s editorial suite. As part of the newsroom's programming team, they will collaborate with social, engagement and other channels to get readers their news in creative ways.
The ideal candidate has experience with editorial and/or marketing emails, including writing subject lines, working on scheduled newsletter sends/sending newsletters, and troubleshooting newsletter issues. They understand the value of test-and-learn experimentation, which is crucial to these efforts as we look to send amazing newsletters and learn from the audience that interacts with them.
While this position allows hybrid work, it will be based in metro Atlanta and will require some days in the AJC’s office. The job requires an early (4 a.m.) start time. Some weekend and night work could be required.
Specific duties include:
- Add to, edit, refine and send A.M. ATL every weekday morning, starting around 5 a.m.
- Support the A.M. ATL writer in writing/producing the newsletter, including filling in when needed.
- Maintain and follow a newsletter sending schedule, focused on making each individual send great.
- Work within the newsletter management system, including scheduling and doing light coding or design work.
- Keep up with news in the newsroom, always thinking how info and multimedia elements can be delivered via newsletter.
- Work as part of a team to innovate and expand existing and future AJC newsletters.
- Produce or write content for other newsletters as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in journalism or related field.
- With a BA, at least 2 years of experience as a digital producer in a fast-paced operational role. With a master’s degree, may have up to 2 years of experience or without a degree must have at least 6 years of experience.
- Strong preference for someone with 4-5 years of experience in digital content; with some preferably producing newsletters.

- An ability to take constructive criticism.
- Passion and belief in local, regional and statewide journalism and its role as a societal change agent.
- Familiarity and experience in using audience metrics.
