Openwork is assisting Harris County in its search to fill Substitute Court Reporter positions.
Certified Shorthand Recorder - Substitute Court Reporter - Harris County
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilize shorthand writing skills to accurately and efficiently record spoken words.
- Transcribe shorthand notes into clear, concise, and grammatically correct documents.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all recorded information.
- Read back portions of the record upon request.
- Maintain and update shorthand dictionaries and reference materials.
- Adhere to professional standards and ethics of the shorthand reporting profession.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Certification from a recognized shorthand reporting program.
- High proficiency in shorthand writing and transcription.
- Excellent listening, comprehension, and typing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures.
- Proficiency in computer software and technology used in the field.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and impartiality in all proceedings.
Physical Demands:
- Extended periods of sitting and concentration.
- Dexterity and hand-eye coordination for rapid shorthand writing.
Work Environment:
- Courtroom setting.
