Were looking for a Lead Cinematographer with a passion for visual storytellingsomeone who can bring stories to life through compelling visuals while leading projects from start to finish.Role OverviewAs Lead Cinematographer, youll serve as the primary shooter on productions while also managing projects throughout the entire production processfrom ideation to final delivery. Youll play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring our projects exceed expectations, and helping Blue Key Media continue to grow.Because were a small but mighty team, we value team players who are flexible, proactive, and willing to step outside their primary role when needed.ResponsibilitiesLead Cinematography: Serve as the primary Director of Photography (DP) for video shoots, ensuring high-quality visuals that align with our storytelling approach.Video Production Leadership: Oversee projects from concept to completion, including pre-production, production, and post-production.Client Collaboration: Engage with clients to develop creative video strategies, lead meetings, and ensure an excellent experience.Pre-Production Planning: Assist in crafting scripts, outlines, interview questions, shot lists, and storyboards.On-Set Production Support: Direct and assist in video shoots, including lighting, audio, and camera work.Post-Production: Edit projects and collaborate with the post-production team to bring stories to life.Internal Content Creation: Produce marketing videos to promote Blue Key Medias brand and services.Equipment Management: Maintain and manage all video equipment, ensuring readiness for productions.QualificationsPassion for storytellingespecially nonprofit and mission-driven stories.Alignment with Blue Key Media Values: Creative Risks, Going the Extra Mile, Relationships that Matter, Continual Growth.5+ years of professional experience in video production.Strong cinematography skills with expertise in lighting, composition, and visual storytelling.Ability to lead client-facing meetings and guide creative direction.Proficiency in Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve.In-depth knowledge of video production workflows, including Sony cameras and Aputure lighting (preferred).Strong organizational and project management skillscomfortable juggling multiple projects at once.Adaptable, solution-oriented, and comfortable making quick decisions under pressure.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Positive, enthusiastic, and curious personalitya quick learner who loves problem-solving.A people-first mindsetsomeone who listens well, understands the heart of a story, and represents people with care and authenticity.Commitment to telling diverse and inclusive storiesensuring every subject is represented with dignity and respect.ExpectationsFull-time, 40 hours per weekIn-office at Edina, MN locationWork occasionally on weekends for video shootsRegularly travel for video shoots, including overnights and flying across the countryReliable vehicle to drive to and from shoots that can haul video gearMust pass a background checkBenefitsHealth and Dental InsuranceHealth Savings Account401(k) plan with employer match15 Days PTO with Paid HolidayApplication Requirements Your Resume Answers to all application questions A 30-60 second video cover letter sharing why youre interested in the role and why youre the right candidate (upload to YouTube/Vimeo) A link to your portfolio showcasing your best work
