Overview:
The Sonatina Center is seeking an experienced board certified music therapist to work with children and teens at our Dover, NH location.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Music Therapy
- 2+ years of experience working in the role of Music Therapist
- Experience with children ages 5 to 18 in medical and behavioral health inpatient, outpatient and residential settings.
- Experience facilitating both individual and group music therapy sessions.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Music Therapy
- LMHC License or License eligible
- NICU MT designation
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy. Candidates for this position must be board-certified music therapists and have 2 or more years of experience working in the role of music therapist. Experience working with children and adults in mental health settings is required; Preferred candidates will need the ability to adapt to a variety of clinical settings and clients in their caseload which will include both individual and group work. In addition to the above qualification requirements, candidates must demonstrate proficiency of clinical musicianship on piano, guitar, voice and rhythmic improvisation.
Salary:
Hourly, based on education level and years of experience (Salary range $38-$45/hour)

Job Description: As a culturally-centered and social justice oriented practice, we are seeking a music therapy candidate who is reflexive, confident, organized, self-starting, and committed to social justice. The current position requires experience working with children and teens in residential, medical, inpatient, and outpatient behavioral health settings. The candidate is expected to participate in critical reflexivity of their position as a music therapist, their clinical work, and develop personal development goals through regular supervision.
As a community centered practice, we provide individual and group therapy, while also engaging in community music therapy such as child enrichment groups, music lessons, and other events. Clinical work takes place at our center in Dover, NH as well as in community facilities, and client homes, and in and around Dover, NH, Southern Maine, and Northern Massachusetts, therefore the candidate must have reliable transportation.
The candidate must be able to effectively communicate with other professionals, conduct assessments, plan, organize, lead music therapy sessions, document and evaluate progress toward individualized, co-created goals. Compensation allotted for travel and weekly supervision. Allowances for continuing education, supplies and instrument purchases, and off-site travel bonuses (in addition to travel pay).
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality, individualized music therapy sessions to children and teens in a variety of sessions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic interventions tailored to children and teens in a variety of settings.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents and professionals to support clients culturally and holistically.
- Commit to developing and growing as a music therapist by actively participating and engaging in individual and group supervision opportunities.
