Job Overview

Reporting to the North America Public Relations Director, the Public Relations Manager is responsible for enhancing and elevating TerraCycle's reputation by developing and executing public relations, media relations, and communications strategies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop strategic media relations and communications strategies to secure national and regional media placements across all verticals, with the goals of being in the news every day and building and enhancing a favorable public image for both the company and its brand partners.
• Work cross-functionally with marketers and account managers to support company business objectives, satisfying the needs of our accounts/clients and TerraCycle business goals.
• Write high-quality, informative and interesting press releases, media pitches and related communications materials like fact sheets, media briefs, FAQs, and more, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
• Develop and foster relationships with key media and be able to coordinate interviews, manage deadlines, and develop talking points on behalf of TerraCycle.
• Support the development of award submissions on behalf of TerraCycle, continuing to build on its legacy as one of the most innovative companies in sustainability.
• Support TerraCycle event strategy and related conference speaking opportunities, assisting in promoting TerraCycle's thought leadership across the industry.

Requirements

Desired Qualifications

• Must be a team player and confident communicator.
• Must possess excellent written communication skills with a deep understanding of AP Style and writing in brand tone and style.
• Strong project management skills with ability to supervise multiple projects.
• Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national level.
• Strong relationships with both local and national media outlets.
• Proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach.
• Event planning experience is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, business, or related field.
• 5 years of experience in PR, journalism or related field.
• Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite/ Google Workspace.
