Schiffer Publishing is a leading independent publisher based in Pennsylvania, specializing in high-quality nonfiction books
across a wide range of topics including art, military history, crafts, mind-body-spirit, and more.
We're looking for a Marketing & Publicity Coordinator to support the development and implementation of creative, tailored
marketing and publicity campaigns for our non-fiction titles across all Schiffer imprints. This role reports directly to the
Executive Director of Marketing & Publicity and supports that role, as well as the title marketers for each Schiffer imprint. This
role also requires close collaboration and communication with editorial, design, and sales teams internally, and at times,
authors externally.
Responsibilities include:
• Provide day-to-day, seasonal, and process/systems and organizational support to the marketing and publicity
team, including, but not limited to:
o Manage, build, deploy, and analyze results for department's direct-to-consumer and b-to-b newsletters, with
input and approval from title marketers
o Actively pitch books to trade media like Publishers Weekly, Shelf Awareness, Kirkus, Library Journal, etc. for
review coverage and features, keeping that contact list current and reporting on confirmed placements
o Assist team with pitching of books to consumer media
o Send review copies to consumer media contacts as needed (magazines, blogs, podcasts, etc.)
o Proactively keep department media contact lists current
o Work with sales team to help manage content (i.e. author images, media links, advertising, etc.) for Edelweiss
(industry system for sales reps and book buyers)
o Asset and marketing collateral creation for department (press releases, media kits, sell sheets, ads, social
content, etc.), working with Schiffer design team as needed
o Support M&P team with advertising research, bookings, and results reporting
o Social media posting support as needed
o Create Amazon A+ content images (directly, or via the marketing designer) and modules, as needed
o Research, create, and maintain influencer lists for specific titles or book categories
o Department mailings
o Maintain and manage the marketing & publicity department external facing email inbox, fielding questions
and requests directly, and forwarding to the appropriate team member as needed
o Field ad-hoc admin requests from marketing team and other internal Schiffer teams (sales, production,
design, etc.)
• Primary contact for Schiffer backlist authors, as needed, including, but not limited to:
o Fielding author emails and related marketing and publicity requests and executing on related needs
o Identifying and surfacing backlist books for re-promotion and new sales opportunities as needed, as they
relate to current events, industry or news trends, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, or related field preferred
• 1-2 years relevant work experience
• Interest in book marketing, media outreach, consumer advertising, and marketing related analytics
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
• Microsoft and Google suite experience. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Canva a plus.
