Who We Are Looking For:

Phoenix Tailings is seeking a Grant Writer with a STEM background to support our efforts in securing government funding for research, development, and scaling of our sustainable metal refining technologies. This role will focus on identifying, applying for, and managing government grants, contracts, and funding opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical writing skills, experience in government grant applications, and the ability to translate complex scientific and engineering concepts into compelling proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify grant opportunities: Research and track relevant federal, state, and international government funding programs related to clean energy, critical minerals, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Develop high-quality grant proposals: Write, edit, and submit compelling grant applications that effectively communicate Phoenix Tailings’ technology, innovation, and impact.
  • Translate complex technical concepts: Work closely with engineering, R&D, and finance teams to translate scientific and technical information into clear, persuasive narratives for funding agencies.
  • Manage the grant application process: Coordinate submission timelines, ensure compliance with funding requirements, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather necessary documentation.
  • Maintain relationships with funding agencies: Engage with government agencies such as the DOE, NSF, ARPA-E, and others to stay informed on funding priorities and align proposals with agency objectives.
  • Support post-award grant management: Assist in tracking deliverables, reporting requirements, and ensuring compliance with grant funding conditions.
  • Grant strategy development: Provide insights and recommendations on funding strategies to support Phoenix Tailings’ long-term research and development goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in a STEM field (Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline).
  • Strong technical writing skills with experience in drafting and submitting government grant applications.
  • Familiarity with federal funding agencies (DOE, NSF, ARPA-E, DOD, etc.) and their grant application processes.
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical information into compelling, accessible proposals.
  • Experience managing multiple grant applications and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with scientists, engineers, and leadership teams to develop funding proposals.
  • Passion for sustainability, clean energy, and the future of critical minerals.
