Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provides vision and leadership for the Library Services and CLASS in support of the College’s mission and goals.
  2. Maintains policy and procedures for library services and academic student support services, including collection development guidelines and operations to enhance student learning.
  3. Manages budget expenditures for system-side electronic resources and student support initiatives.
  4. Acts as the official representative and advocate for library and academic student support services within the College and externally.
  5. Plans, develops, and delivers high quality library and academic student support services accessible to all students.
  6. Establishes a process of ongoing review, assessment, and improvement of programs, resources, and services.
  7. Participates in the Library Services collection development.
  8. Enhances faculty academic coaching in CLASS.
  9. Coordinates cross-departmental library and academic student support activities.
  10. Gathers and reports data on library and academic student support services.
  11. Collaborates with librarians and academic success coaches to develop workshops.
  12. Works with QEP leads to ensure digital learning objectives are met.
  13. Maintains and reports usage statistics for decision-making.
  14. Participates in the development and delivery of the LS information literacy instruction and library instructional program.
  15. Ensures departmental services meet accreditation standards and provides reports.
  16. Serves as the lead for establishing and maintaining goals for Institutional Effectiveness.
  17. Demonstrates successful strategy execution and leads change.
  18. Responsible for efficient management and direction of Library Services and CLASS, including operations, budget, supervision, and staff direction.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Academic Innovation & Technology and Provost/VP of Academic Affairs.

Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:
  • Master’s degree in library science, information science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program.
  • 5 to 7 years of professional library experience; experience in library administration and management in higher education preferred.
  • Preference for demonstrated excellence in applying “user-focused experience” in an educational setting.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and thorough knowledge of current trends in library and information science management.
  • Deep knowledge of emerging technologies and understanding as a foundation for leading Library Services and CLASS.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to foster collaborative and productive relationships.
  • Experience working with special collection materials and preservation.
Preferred:
  • Doctorate in Library Science.
  • Strong knowledge of academic libraries and academic student support services.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in computer software, streaming applications, and internet applications.
  • Knowledge of library services and student support services methodology.
  • Self-directed yet flexible team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work closely with staff, faculty, and students to ensure high-quality services.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Supervision ExercisedLibrary Services and CLASS staff at both campuses.Supervision ReceivedThe Associate Dean of Library & CLASS services reports directly to the Dean of Academic Innovation & Technology.Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, and occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Work Environment

Work is performed in a standard office environment, typically well-lighted and air-conditioned. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate.
