  • Job Summary:

    We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Music Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive music instruction to secondary-level students. The Music Teacher will help foster a love for music, encourage student creativity, and support student learning across various areas of the subject, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.

    Performance Responsibilities:
    1. Instructional Planning & Delivery:

      • Guide students in the achievement of curriculum goals related to music education.
      • Prepare and implement lesson plans tailored to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of students.
      • Select and employ instructional methods and materials suited to available resources, class size, and subject objectives.
      • Incorporate computer technology into instruction as appropriate to enhance student learning.
    2. Student Progress & Assessment:

      • Regularly evaluate student progress, provide feedback, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
      • Emphasize mastery of foundational skills in music, including performance, theory, and composition.
      • Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance and development.
    3. Classroom Environment & Climate:

      • Establish and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, one that reflects student maturity and interests.
      • Create a positive, motivating atmosphere that encourages students to strive for academic and personal growth.
      • Develop and enforce classroom behavior policies, ensuring a respectful and productive environment.
    4. Collaboration & Communication:

      • Collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents to improve student learning outcomes.
      • Seek input from school specialists when addressing the needs of students with special learning requirements.
      • Actively participate in school meetings and activities that enhance the overall educational experience.
    5. Professional Development:

      • Continuously strive to maintain and improve professional competence through workshops, training, and peer collaboration.
      • Participate in relevant professional learning communities to stay current with best practices in music education.
    6. School Policies & Procedures:

      • Assist school administration in implementing school policies, rules, and regulations related to student life and conduct.
      • Uphold high standards of professional ethics and contribute to the positive school culture.
    7. Other Duties:

      • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the principal, related to music instruction or school operations.
    Qualifications:
    • Must meet the state certification requirements for Music Education (049).
    • Strong knowledge and expertise in music, including proficiency in a variety of teaching methods.
    • Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish to support diverse student populations.
    Working Conditions:
    • Full-time teaching position in a classroom environment.
    • Use of standard teaching resources and classroom technology.
    • Collaboration with colleagues and staff to create an enriched and supportive learning environment for students.

    Salary Range: As determined by professional experience and NLEA Contract.

    Terms of Employment: Ten month year. Salary and work year are determined by the Board of Education and the Teachers’ Bargaining Unit.
