CONTENT EDITOR/WRITER - TAX & ACCOUNTING
SUMMARY
The Content Editor/Writer is responsible for the development of engaging, interactive, online courses. They will create relevant training and continuing professional development materials for tax and accounting industry through new online course creation and the maintenance of existing courseware. Through excellent writing and editorial development skills and knowledge of the market, the Content Editor/Writer works to continuously improve WebCE's content and the student's engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Creation:
- The primary role of the Content Editor/Writer is to contribute to the development of engaging content, in both written and visual form, by serving as the sole content writer and/or the content editor for assigned projects, taking new ideas or existing content and processing them into compelling training and educational materials. Work with outside subject matter experts on assigned projects.
- Working with the Director of Content, the Content Editor/Writer will identify new product ideas and strategies based on market trends and student input and help implement content review/update/revision plans.
Product and Market Knowledge:
- The Content Editor/Writer is tasked with knowing and staying current with tax & accounting industry products and services and being able to use that knowledge in ways that are applicable and relatable to the needs of the student and the student's professional activities.
Research:
- The Content Editor/Writer will conduct research as needed on technical matter relating to course topics and the market to ensure that the content of their assigned projects is well-structured, accurate, up-to-date and applicable to the student.
Project Management:
- The Content Editor/Writer is responsible for all aspects of the products and projects to which they are assigned, and will see the project through all stages, from development through production and compliance to launch.
- Post-launch, the Content Editor/Writer will monitor student input and seek ways to improve and enhance content.
Collaboration:
- The Content Writer/Editor will work closely with cross-functional and shared teams, such as the Production and Compliance departments, to produce quality content that meets the needs of the student and the requirements of the market.
- The Content Writer/Editor will respond to customer queries regarding the content of their assigned projects and online courses.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree, or higher; industry certifications or designations are a plus
- 5+ years of experience in creating and developing training and educational materials for professionals and adult learners
- 5+ years of experience in substantive content editing
- Knowledge of the tax and accounting industry and the professionals who support it.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Skilled in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of interactive learning designs and principles helpful
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and/or phone
- May be asked to lift up to 10-15 pounds at times
- 10% travel per year to Dallas
LOCATION:
- Corporate Office in Dallas, TX
- Hybrid; fully-remote work may be available
