Out Magazine and Out.com are seeking an experienced freelance writer to cover LGBTQ+ news, entertainment, and culture. This is a part-time, regular freelance position with the potential to become full-time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write 1-3 trending news stories each day with speed, accuracy, consistency, and a sharp editorial voice.
- Monitor news and social media for breaking developments related to LGBTQ+ celebrities, influencers, and cultural debates.
- Pitch and write compelling features, commentary, listicles, and interviews that resonate with Out's audience.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of queer culture and its intersection with entertainment.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in LGBTQ+ and/or entertainment journalism.
- A strong grasp of pop culture and media trends.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
- Fashion
- Reality TV
- Theater
- Experience editing / assigning stories is also a plus, as there may be opportunities to contribute to editing work for print and digital.
