About FreeFrom

FreeFrom is a national organization founded in 2016 and based in Los Angeles, whose mission is to dismantle the nexus between gender-based violence and financial insecurity. FreeFrom believes in the creativity, resourcefulness, and power that each survivor has to achieve financial independence and to build communities that support individual, intergenerational, and collective healing. We also believe that gender-based violence is a systemic problem in our society which we are severely lacking the infrastructure to address. FreeFrom’s work is to create that infrastructure, by:

  • growing the capacity of the anti-violence movement;
  • supporting survivors with emergency cash grants and our Savings Matching Program;
  • building tech resources for survivors;
  • creating peer networks that facilitate survivors’ collective power building;
  • changing existing laws and advocating for the passage of new, survivor-centered laws at the state and federal level;
  • expanding the data and research that exists to support the field;
  • and bringing in employers, banks, and other institutions as part of the ecosystem working to support survivors’ financial security and safety.

FreeFrom is also a team of nimble innovators. We intentionally cultivate a spirit of creativity and experimentation in our work, understanding that we must be willing to try new approaches and apply new frameworks in order to solve a systemic problem like gender-based violence.

About the Position

Are you a strategic digital storyteller who loves using social media to create real impact? Do you have a sharp eye for what grabs attention online, an instinct for engaging communities, and a passion for digital media as a tool for radical change?

We’re looking for a visionary and dynamic Digital Media Manager to shape and execute our digital strategy, create bold, engaging, and thought-provoking content, and grow our audience in ways that are joyful, creative, and deeply intentional. This is not just about making content that’s fun (though it should be!)—we need someone who understands how to harness social media as a powerful force for narrative shift, movement-building, and business growth.

The ideal candidate is someone who loves to follow and engage online, thinks strategically, implements like clockwork, and brings a deep commitment to gender justice, survivor wealth, and community care.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. The position will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities

  • Digital Strategy & Engagement: Develop and execute a smart, innovative, and impact-driven digital strategy that increases our reach, deepens audience engagement, and drives action.
  • Content Creation & Asset Management: Produce high-quality, visually compelling and deeply engaging multimedia content that aligns with our mission and storytelling goals.
  • Social Media Leadership: Own our social media presence by creating, scheduling, and managing content that sparks conversation, builds community, and centers joy, resilience, and possibility.
  • Digital Marketing: Plan and execute targeted campaigns to drive sales, visibility, and movement-building.
  • Newsletter & Email Marketing: Create compelling, must-read newsletters that keep our audience connected, informed, and inspired to take action.
  • Website Management: Keep our digital home updated, engaging, and user-friendly in collaboration with the team.
  • Graphic Design & Video Editing: Design bold and on-brand visuals and edit videos that tell compelling, mission-driven stories.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • You are a digital strategist first. You know how to make content that’s fun and engaging, but you also understand the why behind it—how to build momentum, drive sales, and move people to action.
  • You are fluent in social media, internet culture, and digital storytelling. You understand the power of narrative, follow trends, and know how to craft content that people actually engage with.
  • You are a skilled writer and communicator. You can craft everything from punchy social captions to compelling narratives and clear calls to action.
  • You have experience running social media accounts and growing communities online—whether through a brand, organization, or personal projects.
  • You are a creative thinker and problem solver. You don’t just make content for the sake of it—you bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches to everything you create.
  • You have an eye for design and video editing. You’re comfortable using tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
  • You know how to run effective digital marketing campaigns. Experience with paid ads, analytics, and email marketing platforms (Mailchimp or similar) is a plus.
  • You believe in the power of joy, humor, and culture to drive engagement and movement-building.
  • You are deeply committed to gender justice, economic equity, and survivor-centered storytelling.
  • You’re highly organized, adaptable, and proactive. You manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and bring solutions, not problems.
  • You’re a team player and a community builder. You love engaging with people and creating content that makes them feel seen and included.

We know no one checks every single box—if this role excites you, we want to hear from you!
