Description

LOCATION: Keshet Business Offices, Northbrook

SUPERVISOR: Jamie Lake, Chief Communications Officer

WAGES: $20 to $25 per hour

JOB STATUS: Summer / Seasonal / Part-time

SCHEDULE: 10-15 hours/week; 2-3 days/week

JOB SUMMARY: Capture the energy, joy and inclusivity of Keshet's summer programs, including day camps, adult programs and special events. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial-quality photography, a keen eye for storytelling and the ability to work in dynamic settings. Photos will be used for marketing, social media and promotional materials to showcase Keshet's impact.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Capture high-quality, engaging images that reflect Keshet's mission and community.
  • Ensure the dignity of our participants, most of whom have intellectual, developmental and/or physical disabilities.
  • Edit photos for use in marketing, social media and promotional materials.
  • Organize photos in Keshet's digital asset management system.
  • Deliver photos multiple times each week on a mutually-agreed upon schedule.
  • Travel to the various locations where Keshet's summer programs take place, primarily outdoors in Skokie, Northbrook and Highland Park, and also join field trips and community outings throughout Chicagoland.
  • Arrange in advance any permissions needed to take photos in public areas where our programs may visit.
  • Understand of privacy guidelines and willingness to follow Keshet's policies regarding photo permissions.
  • Work closely with communications team to ensure photos align with Keshet's branding and messaging; develop shot lists; and create weekly schedules.
  • Adhere to Keshet policies and procedures outlined in the policy manual, Employee Handbook, and other employee policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications

  • Professional photographer or student with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency in using DSLR, mirrorless or similar camera and editing software.
  • Strong eye for composition, lighting (indoor and outdoor) and storytelling through photography.
  • Comfortable capturing candid, posed and action/movement shots.
  • Ability to work independently in different locations without direct supervisor present.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and car to travel to different locations.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Own and be willing to use personal DSLR or similar camera and other equipment. (Keshet can rent lighting if needed and provide a computer.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with kids and adults.
  • Be respectful of Jewish culture and guidelines set forth in the personnel manual.
