Purpose of the Job:

The role of the Videographer & Creative Storyteller (VCS) plays an important role in communicating the ministry’s vision and message through videos. The VCS is responsible for capturing, editing, and producing videos for internal and external purposes. The material produced will be shown during services, various ministry events, websites, and externally on various platforms. The responsibilities of the Videographer & Creative Storyteller include recording, editing, and assembling recorded raw material into a finished product ready for broadcasting. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics, and special effects.

This position reports to the Director of Communications but works closely with other departmental leaders and teams for the successful achievement of various projects and initiatives. The VCS is also responsible for assisting the Director of Communication and Communications Department Team Members with developing material for various teams/departments within our ministry, events, and marketing campaigns.

Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in film, Cinematography, Broadcasting, or a related area of study.
  • Proven experience (5-7+ years) as a professional videographer with a strong portfolio showcasing creative storytelling and technical expertise.
  • Advanced proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge of cameras, lenses, lighting, and audio equipment.
  • Strong understanding of visual composition, pacing, and storytelling principles.
  • Exceptional creativity and a vision for developing captivating content.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to translate ideas into completed projects by the deadline date.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • A keen eye for detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Experience with motion graphics, animation, or 3D rendering is a plus.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the communications and creative teams to conceptualize and storyboard innovative video projects.
  • Establish a clear understanding of the storyline and purpose of the video's creation by developing relevant content and video to reach target audiences for various events and campaigns.
  • Edit and produce polished video content, including promotional materials, advertisements, event coverage, and documentaries.
  • Design, create, and manage videos for various projects, media outlets, promotions, and campaigns.
  • Incorporate visual effects, music, and sound design to elevate storytelling and create engaging content.
  • Manage all aspects of pre-production, including scripting, location scouting, and scheduling.
  • Capture high-quality video footage using professional-grade cameras and equipment.
  • Ensure the correct formatting and presentation for finalized videos.
  • Operate computer editing systems and equipment used for video media and effects by utilizing Final Cut, Adobe Creative Suite, and other production platforms essential to the position.
  • Operate lighting and sound equipment to ensure professional-grade production quality.
  • Maintain and manage video equipment, ensuring it is in optimal condition.
  • Troubleshoot to improve video and sound quality using various video software.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in video production.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and meet or exceed creative and technical expectations.
  • Photography experience is a plus.
