GENERAL FUNCTION:
- Apply DoD, AF, and engineering principles to enhance the performance and sustainability of weapon systems.
- Execute MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria to ensure airworthiness for aircraft systems and subsystems.
- Support System Integrity Programs, including the Mechanical Systems Integrity Program (MECSIP), airworthiness certification, and Critical Safety Item (CSI) list management.
- Assist in translating user requirements into systems requirements for design, development, and fielding of weapons systems.
- Contribute to system safety engineering, including risk assessments, contractor safety proposals, and resolution of high-priority safety concerns.
- Assist in developing technical documents, including requirements documents, acquisition strategies, and system evaluations.
- Participate in milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.), and provide input on engineering aspects of operational and support issues.
- Ensure compliance with life cycle systems engineering (LCSE) and airworthiness standards, and help identify gaps in OSS&E (Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness) compliance.
- Support cyber security efforts, including risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and executing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for system certification and accreditation.
- Assist in evaluating cybersecurity, system security engineering, and anti-tamper programs for weapon systems, including software assurance and supply chain risk management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:
- Senior: Master’s degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience, OR, BA degree with at least 12 years of experience, OR, 15 years of directly related experience, 8 of which must be with the DoD.
- Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the Secret Level.
- Must be able to perform functional duties independently.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Must be able to transport self to various facility sites, as required. If using own motor vehicle, must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
