WHO YOU ARE:
You are an experienced and innovative SEO professional with a strong background in traditional SEO strategies and a growing expertise in marketplace optimization, including Amazon SEO. You have a proven ability to optimize search performance for websites across various industries, leveraging technical SEO, content strategy, and data analysis. You thrive in a fast-paced, remote work environment and bring a strategic, results-oriented approach to every project.
The SEO Director will lead the development and implementation of advanced SEO strategies to improve organic visibility, traffic, and performance across multiple channels. While the primary focus is on traditional SEO, this role will also involve leveraging Amazon SEO to support discoverability and sales growth on marketplaces. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to align SEO initiatives with broader business goals.
This position is based in New York City and is fully remote, with occasional in-person meetings as needed.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Traditional SEO Strategies: Design and execute advanced SEO strategies to improve search rankings, drive organic traffic, and enhance user experience for websites.
- Technical SEO Optimization: Conduct comprehensive site audits to improve crawlability, indexability, site speed, and mobile performance. Ensure alignment with search engine best practices and Core Web Vitals.
- Content Strategy and Optimization: Collaborate with content teams to create high-performing on-page content, blog posts, and metadata that align with search trends and user intent.
- Data Analysis and Insight: Monitor and analyze search performance metrics using tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, and enterprise SEO platforms to refine strategies and demonstrate ROI.
- Amazon SEO as a Secondary Focus: Support Amazon SEO efforts by optimizing product listings, A+ content, and storefronts. Utilize Amazon-specific tools to improve discoverability and sales performance.
- Competitor Research and Trend Analysis: Conduct competitor analysis to identify gaps and stay ahead of trends in both traditional search and marketplace optimization.
- Integrate AI Tools: Experiment with and implement AI tools to streamline processes such as keyword research, content creation, and performance tracking.
- Cross-Platform Alignment: Ensure SEO strategies are cohesive across all channels, including traditional web platforms, marketplaces, and social commerce.
EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
- 8+ years of experience in SEO, with a primary focus on traditional SEO and experience with Amazon SEO as a bonus.
- Expertise in technical SEO, including site performance optimization, schema markup, and international SEO.
- Proven ability to optimize content for search engines and user intent, with experience in developing high-quality, engaging on-page content.
- Familiarity with enterprise SEO tools (e.g., SEMrush, aHrefs, BrightEdge) and Amazon-specific tools (e.g., Helium 10, Jungle Scout) is a strong asset.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using Google Analytics, Search Console, and other performance-tracking tools.
- Base knowledge of Python or other scripting languages to automate SEO workflows and analyze data.
- Experience in e-commerce SEO, particularly in the beauty or retail industries, is highly desirable.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills to convey strategies and insights to stakeholders.
