General Definition of Work

Performs work responsible for writing social media content, and creating and assisting with video products.

Essential Functions

  1. Design fun and engaging social media videos demonstrating the City's fun and vibrant culture.
  2. Develop informative documentary and news style videos designed to educate the public on city services.
  3. Assist with the production of the Cape Chronicle television show in partnership with the University.
  4. Produce other media content upon request of the City's department personnel.
  5. Produce live council meetings on assigned evenings (typically 1st and 3rd Mondays at 5:00 pm for up to two hours) at least four times per year and as needed.
  6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school graduate or equivalency.
  2. Read and interpret written material and directions.
  3. Two (2) years experience in video creating and editing type work.
  4. Experience with computer systems, including word processing and publishing software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience with public relations, journalism, marketing or customer service preferred.
  2. Knowledge of municipal government operation and organization.
  3. Preference given to related college course work and degree.
