Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) was created with the purpose of providing integrated enterprise IT support to Federal customers both CONUS and OCONUS. CARS employs Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with decades of experience working in the Federal marketplace.

The Technical Writer will support the Department of Education in developing, researching, reviewing, and updating the system security and system documentation defined within customer requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Independently develop, research, review, and update system security and system documentation specified.
  • Evaluate OIG ITACCINet/ODAS and ITACCI TSO’s (Technology Support Operations) three moderate-impact level Information Technology (IT) systems and ensure documentation meets requirements set by OMB, NIST, and FedRAMP standards and guidance, including FISMA reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with OIG Staff and team members with documentation review and approval processes.
  • Capture all meeting minutes and make them available to OIG staff within the identified deadline.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and 4+ years of experience as a Technical Writer OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 10+ years of Technical Writer experience may be used in lieu of degree
  • Background check with the ability to obtain Public Trust

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work on customer sites full time
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in the development of system security documents.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge, experience, and skills using Microsoft products.
  • Experience with using Adobe digital features.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of terminology, usage, and operating characteristics of hardware, software, and operating components of information systems as well as governmental policies and industry standards related to the following areas:
    • Information Technology Architecture
    • System security controls listed under NIST 800-53 Rev 4 and/or upcoming revisions
    • OIG policies and procedures
    • Federal enterprise policies and procedures from OMB, NIST, and DHS
    • FedRAMP Security Controls Baseline
    • GAO Government Auditing Standards
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and requirements.
  • Ability to capture needed requirements and translate into reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients and users.
  • Ability to work independently under general guidelines or objectives.
  • Ability to provide technical knowledge and information assurance analysis support.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to maintain security clearance requirements.
