SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: BITS is seeking an experienced Instructor/Writer for Fort Riley's Danger Voice Signal University (DVSU) to support the Regional Signal Training Sites (RSTS) program. Instructor/writers develop and teach classes in Tactical Networks, Tactical Radios, IT Certification, and Cyber Security.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in developing government owned training materials (Lesson Plan, PowerPoint Presentations, etc.).
  • Audit and edit all developed courseware for accuracy, completeness, flow, balance, and clarity of understanding.
  • Review and modify all lessons, material, labs, and instruction based on student critiques to ensure maximum value in minimal time.
  • Provide instruction (must possess industry certifications as required by the Government RSTS Site Manager). The number of courses and their content are subject to change based on DoD and Army requirements.
  • Participate in Operational Tests, Training Exercises, and New Equipment Training (NET).
  • Conduct and report End of Course survey results to Government RSTS site manager for review.
  • Provide effective training IAW RSTS site-specific training policies, lesson plans, training schedules, and student feedback from end of course evaluations.
  • Implement a “train the trainer” curriculum in support of unit sustainment training.
  • Ensure training encompasses all operational aspects of the assigned system being trained.
  • Provide functional services and commercially certified personnel related to commercial certification and test completion.
  • Perform duties as a Pearson Vue and/or Prometric proctor where applicable and coordinate efforts with Army operations and course manager.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Possess current industry certifications or demonstrated training experience on the tactical/commercial communications equipment required to fill the specific instructor vacancy immediately.
  • Experience with Army-standard desktop applications and configurations, i.e., daily reporting programs, MS Office, and Army Gold Master (AGM) configurations.
  • Prior Military Service is a plus and considered favorable for teaching experience.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to get on and off post.
  • Possess and maintain a DOD SECRET security clearance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 7 years or more experience teaching and developing training for complex subjects. In lieu of experience, a Bachelor of Science degree will be accepted.
  • Current certification in at least two or more of the following certifications:
    1. ITF+ (IT Fundamentals Plus)
    2. Security+
    3. Network+
    4. A+
    5. CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Administrator)
    6. Cloud+
    7. Palo Alto Firewall Essentials
    8. Linux+
    9. Pentest+
    10. CISSP
    11. Project Manager Professional (PMP)
    Preferred but not required Certification:
    1. Fiber Optic Installer
    2. Data+
    3. CASP+
    4. CYSA
  • Demonstrated skills with AN/PRC 117F&G, AN/PRC 150, AN/PRC 152, AN/PRC 119, AN/PRC 148.
  • Experience tailoring content and delivery for different audiences, presenting confidently to large or small groups, and using creative approaches to presenting.
  • Experience counseling students to improve their course knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
  • Knowledge of Army Regulation 350-1, TRADOC Regulation 350-70, and TRADOC Pamphlets 350-70-X.
  • Attain industry certifications within 60 days of a teaching assignment (DoD 8570.01M IAT and IAM level 1 certifications).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Training is at Ft. Riley, KS.
  • Travel is less than 5%.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Instruction is mainly on podium but also includes virtual training.
  • Required to stand, bend, and stoop for long periods of time while teaching or testing.
