Salary Range: $70-90K
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, edit, and maintain IT system design documentation, ensuring alignment with program and contractual requirements.
- Create and update test plans, test scripts, and test procedures to support system validation and verification activities.
- Support requirements traceability documentation to track system specifications from design through testing and deployment.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of CDRLs (Contract Data Requirements List) and Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) per contract obligations.
- Document system architecture, software and hardware configurations, security controls, and data flows in support of IT network infrastructure projects.
- Work closely with engineering, cybersecurity, and testing teams to ensure documentation accurately reflects system functionality and operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user guides, system manuals, and compliance reports.
- Prepare technical documentation for formal design reviews, test readiness reviews (TRRs), and system acceptance reviews (SARs).
- Ensure documentation meets DoD standards, security best practices, and compliance frameworks such as NIST, FISMA, RMF, MIL-STD, and IEEE documentation standards.
- Provide support for risk assessments, configuration management documentation, and change control processes.
- Maintain a structured document control system, ensuring accurate version tracking, approvals, and historical records for all technical deliverables.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing for IT systems, DoD projects, or government contracts.
- Strong understanding of IT design documentation, test plans, test scripts, test procedures, and system validation requirements.
- Experience developing and maintaining CDRLs, Data Item Descriptions (DIDs), and other government contract deliverables.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure, system integration, and security best practices.
- Knowledge of DoD contract requirements, acquisition processes, and documentation standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and documentation tools.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting DoD IT system testing, verification, and validation activities.
- Knowledge of federal acquisition regulations (FAR, DFARS), MIL-STD documentation requirements, and DoD program compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with configuration management processes and tools such as DOORS, JIRA, or other requirements tracking software.
- Local candidates who can report on-site, as needed will be given preference.
