Student Assistant-Trumpet Instructor (Music Preparatory Division) Bookmark this Posting Print Preview | Apply for this JobPlease see Special Instructions for more details.If an applicant is selected for an interview, it will take place at the Music Prep House, 3028 Raguet Street.Posting DetailsPosition InformationJob Title Student Assistant-Trumpet Instructor (Music Preparatory Division)General DescriptionThis is a student position responsible for teaching private lessons to children and adults enrolled in the Music Preparatory Division, providing support for all Music Prep areas, recruiting for and maintaining studio, and participating in Music Prep activities such as teacher meetings, fundraisers, registration, and recruiting assignments. Responsible for evaluating progress of students, preparing students for recitals, and encouraging students to participate in festivals, theory tests, and performance opportunities. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Job Duties1. Prepares for each teaching session.2. Recruits new students.3. Conducts individual assessments of student progress.4. Communicates effectively with parents, students, and colleagues.5. Prepares students for recitals.6. Encourages students in their music studies.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities1. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university policies and procedures.2. Ability to teach the instrument being taught.3. Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, university faculty and staff, and the general public.4. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.Required QualificationsThe minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.Preferred QualificationsTeach trumpet lessons to registered Music Prep students. Recruiting of students is important. Student teaches for 12 weeks of each semester. Prepare students for recital at the end of the fall and spring semester.Physical DemandsSpecial Conditions for EligibilityA student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters.
