Position Summary

Habitat for Humanity of Broward (HFHB) seeks a

Vice President, Development & Communications (VPDC)

to

play a pivotal role in advancing our mission. As a key member of our senior leadership team, this position will lead an integrated approach to

fundraising and communications , ensuring alignment with HFHB’s strategic vision and long-term sustainability. Reporting to the

CEO , the DC will refine, develop, and implement revenue-generating strategies while building HFHB’s visibility and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Lead the implementation and refinement of HFHB’s

fundraising strategy

from individuals, corporations and foundations with focus on leadership and major gifts, planned giving, special events, annual giving, and all marketing and communications activities. Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward relationships with

donors, including individuals, and corporate and foundation partners , as well as prospects and suspects, ensuring long-term engagement and financial sustainability. Oversee

grant writing and reporting , ensuring alignment with funder priorities and organizational needs. Partner with the

Development Committee of the Board

to expand fundraising capacity and donor pipelines. Develop strategies for

donor meetings , including preparation, execution, and follow-up with key stakeholders. Design and implement

strategic communications

that support HFHB’s development goals as well as expanding HFHB’s reach and impact.

Strategic Communications & Brand Awareness Design and implement a

communications strategy

that builds brand awareness, supports fundraising efforts, and deepens engagement with HFHB. Oversee the development of

content for digital marketing, social media, newsletters, and donor engagement and stewardship materials . Ensure HFHB’s impact is effectively communicated through storytelling, case studies, and thought leadership. Oversee

website content , ensuring it is engaging, accurate, and current. Support the creation of

internal and external communications , including sensitive messaging and public statements.

Special Events & Stakeholder Engagement Oversee the planning and execution of

donor cultivation and stewardship events

including various Build Days – CEO; Women; Apostle, and others. Lead event-related communications and coordinate fundraising components of key HFHB initiatives.

Leadership & Collaboration Partner with the senior leadership team to align fundraising, business development, and communications with organizational goals. Lead, manage and build a team of Development and Communications professionals. Utilize

data and analytics

to measure and report success, track fundraising performance, and inform strategic decisions.

Qualifications & Experience 7+ years of experience

in fundraising, communications, and development, with at least

3 years in a leadership role . Proven success in securing

major gifts, corporate partnerships, and foundation grants . Strong experience in

brand-building, digital marketing, and storytelling . Demonstrated ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, partners, and board members. Leadership experience in

team management, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration . Proficiency in

CRM systems (Charity Proud), digital marketing tools, and fundraising analytics . Passion for HFHB’s mission and a deep commitment to

equity, diversity, and social impact .

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proven track record of soliciting and closing 5, 6 and 7 figure gifts. Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles. Strong leadership experience in managing teams, colleagues, Boards and Executive Leadership. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Must be a self-starter with sound judgement who can work independently, solve problems, handle confidential information, and navigate sensitive situations. Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team required. A clear understanding of the mission, values, and traditions of Habitat of Broward. Position is Onsite, not remote.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. + years of direct fundraising experience with proven ability to solicit and close major gifts, as well as a working knowledge of planned giving fundraising and vehicles is essential. Working knowledge of Charity Proud, Word, Excel and PowerPoint highly preferred. Proven experience working with and managing volunteers.

Salary Range:

Commensurate with Experience
