Solomon Page is hiring: Design Director in New York

Our client, a pet insurance company in NYC, is looking for a Sr. Design Director, Digital Design Systems to shape the future of their brand's digital presence. This role will lead the development and evolution of a best-in-class digital design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and innovation across all digital touchpoints. This person will bring a deep understanding of the digital landscape, a sharp eye for emerging trends, and a passion for integrating cutting-edge technologies, including AI and generative design.

• This is a FTE, but the team would be open to a contract to hire resource as well. Hybrid, 2 days a week in NYC (Financial District).

Responsibilities:

• Establish and Maintain a Digital Design System - Spearhead the development, evolution, and upkeep of a flexible digital design framework that drives consistency across web, email, social, display, and beyond.
• Ensure Seamless Execution - Oversee daily design work, ensuring all assets align with and contribute to the integrity of the design system.
• Stay Ahead of Emerging Trends - Collaborate with Tech and Dev teams to evaluate and implement cutting-edge design tools, technologies, and AI-driven solutions.
• Shape the Future of Digital Branding - Define a forward-thinking strategy for how Fetch's digital presence evolves, setting high standards for creativity and innovation.
• Foster Cross-Departmental Collaboration - Work closely with product, brand, and engineering teams to ensure a cohesive and consistent implementation of the design system.
• Inspire and Develop the Team - Provide leadership, mentorship, and career growth opportunities to designers through clear guidance and constructive feedback.
• Balance Strategy with Hands-On Execution - Lead with both vision and action, staying involved in tactical execution to maintain alignment with business and brand objectives.
• Streamline Figma Workflows - Oversee the organization and scalability of Figma files, ensuring accessibility, efficiency, and seamless team collaboration.
• Enhance Operational Efficiency - Develop reusable components, templates, and guidelines that optimize production processes while identifying new opportunities for scalability.

Required Qualifications:

• Extensive Digital Design Experience - 10-15 years in digital design, specializing in the creation and management of large-scale design systems.
• Proven Leadership & Collaboration - Skilled in leading teams and fostering cross-functional partnerships in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
• Expertise in Digital Platforms & Accessibility - Deep knowledge of user-centered design, platform-specific best practices, and accessibility standards.
• Forward-Thinking & Tech-Savvy - Passionate about emerging design technologies, with expertise or strong interest in AI, generative tools, and innovation-driven solutions.
• Strong Technical Acumen - Understanding of front-end development principles, system architecture, databases, programming languages, and version control systems.
• Mastery of Industry Tools - Highly proficient in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and other key design software.
• Effective & Persuasive Communicator - Capable of distilling complex design concepts for diverse audiences, including non-designers and stakeholders.
• Strategic & Impact-Driven Mindset - Passionate about crafting scalable, high-impact design solutions that drive brand and business success.
