Local News Live is Gray Media’s 24/7 live-streaming news network. LNL covers the day’s top stories, breaking news, and weather with our most powerful resource: local journalists and meteorologists from Gray’s 113 local newsrooms. Our newscasts stream on Gray’s digital platforms and various markets across the country. Local News Live allows viewers to watch stories from across the country on one platform.
Job Summary/Description:
Local News Live is seeking a newscast producer to join its team. This position requires newsroom and live control room experience, as well as the ability to navigate news sources in real time. The ideal candidate has a passion for producing engaging, compelling newscasts including breaking news and live events. This position is based in Washington, DC.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work with newsroom leadership and anchors to create strong, well-paced newscasts
Responsible for the content and overall production of the newscast.
Respond quickly, aggressively, and responsibly to cover breaking news and getting information on the air
Using strong editorial judgment to determine content
Write clear, concise, and conversational scripts
Coordinate with local stations to gather and distribute content
Use creative production techniques, such as graphics and new forms of media, to enhance stories and overall newscast production
Research national and regional news events in the Gray Media footprint to determine news coverage of the day
Ensure newscast content is posted on digital platforms
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
BS/BA in journalism or communications
At least two years of experience in television news
Ability to produce compelling, live programming
Knowledge of local news and newscast production
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Familiarity with ENPS, BitCentral, and digital content management systems
Excellent time management skills
Schedule flexibility
