Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Legal Research and Brief Writing Attorney with a minimum of one year of experience to join our team. The Research Attorney will be responsible for conducting comprehensive legal and factual research to support the litigation of plaintiff-side cases. This includes case law analysis, preparing legal memoranda, drafting pleadings and motions, assisting with discovery, and providing legal strategies that support the firm’s objectives in both state and federal court. The ideal candidate will have excellent research and writing skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of legal principles related to elder abuse, personal injury, class action and employment law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, regulations, and legal procedures relevant to the firm’s cases.
- Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, legal briefs, appellate work, summaries, and other research-related documents for use by our legal team.
- Assist in developing litigation strategies and identifying key legal and factual issues in complex cases.
- Provide legal analysis for motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
- Review and analyze fact issues via deposition transcripts, expert reports, and other case-related materials.
- Stay up to date with current legal trends, rulings, and changes to laws.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support the litigation process.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
- At least one year of experience as a research attorney or in a legal research role, preferably in plaintiffs’ litigation or personal injury.
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex legal issues and present them clearly and concisely.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet court and statutory deadlines.
- Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER).
- Familiarity with court rules, procedures, and litigation practice.
