Position: Law Library Technical Assistant I

Position Summary:

The Library Technical Assistant I reports to the Assistant Law Librarian for Technical Services. The person is this position performs a variety of clerical and paraprofessional duties related to acquisitions and receiving library materials including books, magazines, and newspapers. The Library Technical Assistant I also assists in the operations of Technical Services by processing mail and invoices, managing bindery shipments, maintaining the microfiche collection, and participating in updating the library collection.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Receives and checks in all Law Library mail and deliveries and distributes it to the appropriate location. Shelves newspapers and popular periodicals and discards old issues according to the library's retention policy. Maintains serial check=in records within the integrated library system. Creates and modifies records as needed. Enters all invoices into the integrated library system and prepares them for the Library Director's approval. Communicates with the Accounting Office, publishers, and vendors about any invoice problems. Always maintains a professional appearance and demeanor. Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to, FERPA and other state and federal mandates. Other job-related duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Education/Experience:

Associate degree plus two years' library or office administrative assistant experience. Library experience is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively with publishers and vendors through written communication or by phone. Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills. Ability to perform a variety of technical and administrative library work with speed and accuracy. Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology. A working knowledge of the acquisitions and receiving functions in Ex Libri/Alma, the library's integrated library system. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and common methods of digital communication such as web conferencing, web/text chat. Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, and the public. Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people. Exercise good judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations. Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet set deadlines. Adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to work in a changing environment. This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.
