Girl Scouts Nation's Capital is seeking a big-picture thinker as a Director of Marketing and Communications to elevate our brand, engage communities, and drive strategic initiatives. About the Role

As the Director of Marketing and Communications, you will: • Shape Strategy: Develop and execute multi-channel marketing and communications strategies to enhance brand awareness, foster engagement, and advance organizational goals. Bring your strategic mindset to refine our value proposition and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms. • Lead the Team: Oversee a four-person team, mentoring staff to execute strategic initiatives effectively. You'll also manage relationships with vendors, including producers, designers, and developers. • Execute Campaigns: Collaborate with internal departments to design targeted campaigns that drive membership growth, fundraising, and program participation. Lead special projects, such as launching the "Always a Girl Scout" podcast and developing proprietary communication platforms like our new mobile app. • Manage Media Relations: Serve as the primary media liaison, building relationships with media outlets to secure earned coverage. Lead crisis communications and position the Council as a thought leader in youth and volunteer development by leveraging your analytical insights. • Create Compelling Content: Oversee content creation for press releases, newsletters, videos, and social media. Develop impactful storytelling assets that highlight the Council's mission and successes. • Measure Success: Track and analyze key performance metrics to inform data-driven decisions and optimize strategies for greater impact, showcasing your ability to think strategically.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a strategic thinker with: • Proven Experience: At least seven years of progressive marketing and communications experience (preferably, in the nonprofit sector), including two years supervising a team. Executive-level expertise in multi-channel campaigns, brand management, and public relations is essential. • Outstanding Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a knack for compelling storytelling. • Leadership Abilities: A collaborative, people-centered leader who thrives in fast-paced environments. • Analytical and Decision-Making Skills: A strong ability to analyze complex challenges and implement effective strategies. • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office, email marketing platforms, Google Analytics, and social media management tools. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and video editing software is a plus. • Passion for Our Mission: A deep commitment to empowering youth and supporting volunteers.

Additional Details This position is based in our Washington, DC office and involves travel throughout the Council's region, including Washington, DC and parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Reliable car transportation is required, with mileage reimbursement for work-related travel. Occasional evenings and weekends throughout the year are expected.

The starting salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000.
