Description The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Security Operations Center (SOC), is dedicated to safeguarding CBP networks from cyber threats. This program is vital for monitoring, detecting, and eradicating cyber risks, thus securing the integrity of information systems including LAN/WAN, cloud services, public-facing websites, and mobile platforms. The CBP SOC plays a crucial role in ensuring comprehensive security for CBP’s information systems and investigating any suspected security violations. Primary Responsibilities The selected candidate will bring their expertise as an Assessment and Authorization Analyst to evaluate new CBP Information Systems and ensure they comply with required security standards for authorization to operate within the CBP network. This crucial process will utilize the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) or similar methodologies. Key responsibilities include: Conducting formal assessments to determine system authorization to operate. Evaluating the system's security posture thoroughly. Assessing whether the security controls meet established standards and are functioning effectively. Documenting assessment results and recommending improvements to enhance security. Advising on the authorization status of the system based on assessment findings. Ensuring necessary security controls are implemented to mitigate risks. Basic Qualifications A Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related fields; or a Master's Degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience. Excellent writing, communication, and critical analysis skills. Solid understanding of Information Assurance, IT, and Information Management concepts, processes, and procedures. Experience delivering large, complex projects successfully in government settings. 1-3 years of experience as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) working with major federal systems/applications. Familiarity with NIST SP 800-37, Rev 2, and relevant DHS/CBP security policies. U.S. Citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with CBP. DoD 8570 IAT III certification. CompTIA Certified Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+). ISC2 Certified in Governance, Risk, and Compliance Certification (CGRC). ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
