POSITION SUMMARY
A sleep technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and home sleep apnea testing; diagnostic and therapeutic interventions; comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. Technologists, technicians, and trainees work under the direct supervision of the credentialed sleep technologist or the medical director and will perform all department functions including: Patient Scheduling & Pre-authorizations; PSG testing; CPAP Titrations; MSLT studies; MWT studies; Day Studies; Split Night studies; Scoring; and assisting with department quality assurance & performance improvement programs.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A Sleep Lab Technologist will be currently certified or eligible for certification as a certified or registered technologist in sleep disorders such as a RST, RPSGT, and/or SDS.
Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
A Polysomnographic Technologist will be currently certified or eligible for certification as a certified or registered technologist in sleep disorders such as a RST, RPSGT, and/or SDS.
AND
Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds either the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.
OR
Ability to become certified within 120 days of hire.
Preferred:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Licensed by the West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care with a temporary license with continued employment based upon successfully passing next available national exam is required.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Minimum 1-year of experience working in a Sleep Lab, Sleep Clinic, and/or Sleep Center.
Preferred:
Two years of experience working in a Sleep Lab, Sleep Clinic, and/or Sleep Center.
Other requirements / Certifications / Licensing
If ACLS certification not current, must obtain ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
