YOUR MISSION: As the Director of Marketing, Entertainment, & Storytelling you will be responsible for all marketing initiatives, creative direction, and execution of all brand design and advertising initiatives for the Great Lakes Loons, Michigan Baseball Foundation, Dow Diamond Events, and Sports Radio 100.9FM the Mitt. You will lead a marketing team to develop and create strategically integrated marketing campaigns, including radio, TV, billboard, social, digital, website and other brand initiatives. The role will uphold established brand standards, ensuring implementation from concept to activation. As the leader of the marketing team, you will drive brand awareness, design, and creative messaging for the entire organization.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT: Collaborate with the leadership, ticketing, and marketing teams to identify strategic brand opportunities and execute campaigns to achieve ticket sales results.

Uphold established style, direction, and design solutions for the Great Lakes Loons brand, ensuring implementation from concept through activation and providing recommendations on updating or enhancing the Loons brand.

Provide strategic vision for all creative initiatives.

Provide leadership to the Marketing team. Mentor, inspire and elevate the creative team to ensure growth and quality of work.

Ensure creative is effective, innovative and targets desired fan segments, and that all creative materials meet deadlines. Review completed creative to ensure accuracy and proper representation of brand standards.

Enhance the Loons brand experience by researching new ways to deliver creative messaging and content.

Manage all marketing and communications efforts of the entire organization. In addition, collaborate with the Director of Entertainment & Community Engagement to ensure all promotional efforts meet sponsor needs and align with marketing initiatives and strategic plan goals.

Collaborate with team President & General Manager to develop strategic marketing plans and advertising campaigns to meet specific team objectives and oversee the implementation of all campaigns.

Develop and maintain a detailed critical path for all marketing initiatives and a full 52-week communications calendar that encompasses communications needs across all departments of the organization.

Manage the design, production, and activation of all marketing collateral for the entire organization.

Manage all data acquisition efforts of the Loons. Develop creative and innovative ways to capture fan information.

Oversee all Loons non-baseball media communications, including daily and in-season relationships with media outlets.

In conjunction with team President & General Manager, create Loons marketing and promotions annual budgets. Review monthly income statements to ensure budgets are at or under plan.

WHO ARE YOU: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design, Film or Sports Management.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in professional sports, advertising, or the film industry.

Experience managing cross-functional teams.

Ability to lead and motivate to inspire creativity and innovation, as well as experience in hiring, training, developing, and managing a team.

Masterful storyteller with the ability to create purposeful content that creates a stronger connection to our team, increases fan engagement and enhances the Great Lakes Loons brand.

Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality and a critical eye for design aesthetics.

Ability to analyze, problem-solve, make sound decisions, and provide alternative solutions.

Excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with all staff and stakeholders.

Proficient with MS Office, PowerPoint, Asana task & project management platforms or similar platforms.

Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, preferred but not required.

WHO ARE WE: The Great Lakes Loons are the High-A Affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and privately own and operate award-winning Dow Diamond, one of the finest Minor League events facilities in the nation. In addition to the Loons, the organization is comprised of the Michigan Baseball Foundation (MBF), ESPN 100.9-FM, and Dow Diamond Events. Our 7-person marketing team was recognized for their creative efforts in 2024 with the MLB Golden Bobblehead Award for Best Promotion and Silver Clio Award for In-Game Experience.

MBF, a Michigan non-profit public charity, was founded to spur economic development and provide charitable giving to non-profits throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. MBF leverages the success of the Loons for charitable giving and has awarded over $1.4MM in grants to over 350 non-profit organizations.

Sports Radio 100.9-FM the Mitt broadcasts from high atop Dow Diamond in the Tri-Star Club and is an all-sports station that serves as home to all 132 Loons regular season game broadcasts as well as MSU Football & Basketball, the Detroit Pistons, and regional high school football and basketball.

Dow Diamond Events utilizes the multipurpose facility to transform from casual to elegant for a wide range of events, with over 150 public and private special events hosted annually at Dow Diamond.
