Are you a technical professional who loves to write? The Technical Content Experience (TCX) team, also known as AWS Documentation, is looking for a technical writer to support the cloud-based Aurora DSQL database service at AWS. In this role, the documentation that you write will help developers use the cloud database service to automatically manage system infrastructure and scale their database for their workload.
Ideally, you have both a technical background that enables easy interaction with software developers, and a demonstrated ability to deliver concise technical documentation. As a Technical Writer, you'll work directly with internal software development teams and technical product managers to produce bar-raising technical content for Amazon RDS users.
While experience writing technical documentation is ideal, it’s not required. You should be comfortable learning tools like Git and APIs, query languages like SQL, and have the ability to learn new technologies quickly. The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of successful interactions with stakeholders and customers. This is a customer-obsessed, dynamic team of talented, highly technical communicators. AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Basic Qualifications
Degree or certification in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
A minimum of 3 years in a technical writing or lead writing role
Experience designing and delivering developer-oriented documentation
Experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish technical content on the web
Preferred Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with using and following a style guide
Experience designing, planning, and delivering content that meets the needs of a technical audience
Experience with or understanding of cloud computing, including cloud storage and database technologies
Experience working with XML or HTML, APIs, and query languages like SQL
Experience working directly with software engineering and development teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $70,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $173,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
