Job Summary
ClutchPoints Golden State Valkyries Reporter will lead our on-site WNBA reporting coverage for the Valkyries inaugural season. They will need to be credentialed for games and practices in the Bay Area and write timely, engaging content in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has been credentialed for sporting events before, has a strong understanding of the 24/7 news cycle, is adept at making relationships with players, coaches, agents and execs and is well-versed in sharing their content on social media and various digital sports platforms. They also will assist our Head of Womens Sports to help with other tasks as needed within our Womens Sports vertical.
Duties
Attend home games and practices for the Valkyries
Report off press conferences, obtain exclusive interviews and shoot video to capture viral content as appropriate
Identify content opportunities to maximize real-time traffic utilizing our internal content strategy and identification guide
Write trending real-time news and analysis articles focusing on postgame coverage
Ideate and write in-depth opinion editorial topics based on trending news stories
Communicate with editorial team to optimize SEO-winning search headlines and story composition
Communicate with graphics team on creative thumbnails for your content
Send published articles for distribution to our social media channels
Follow our breaking news protocol to quickly capitalize on stories in real-time
Assist the Head of Womens Sports by writing, editing and brainstorming other Womens Sports content, as required
Basic Qualifications
1+ years of sports reporting experience
Proficiency with SEO preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with editorial and content creation for the WNBA and Womens Sports at large
Passion and advanced understanding of the WNBA and Womens Sports at large
Understanding of trending WNBA news and how to craft stories/headlines to capitalize on those moments
Available to work on nights and weekends, as the WNBA schedule dictates
Ability to multitask multiple objectives
Established social media following is preferred
