Under direction, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for crafting clear, compelling, and consistent messaging to effectively communicate key initiatives, brand values, and ODI organizational updates. This role will assist in planning and executing events, including press conferences, product launches, and community outreach programs. This role will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating communication efforts using key performance indicators (KPIs), analytics, and feedback mechanisms to measure effectiveness and inform future strategies. This is an Unclassified Appointment (U). A person who has been selected by an appointing authority in accordance with the Columbus City Charter, Section 148(1) is said to have received an unclassified appointment. Those individuals receiving unclassified appointments serve at the pleasure of their appointing authority and may be terminated from employment at any time. Under direction, is responsible for analyzing and researching issues and providing counsel and recommendations on matters pertaining to the community in the Offices of the Mayor; performs related duties as required. Examples of Work 20% Assist senior personnel or SMEs in creating diverse content across various channels, including, but not limited to press releases, blogs, social media, videos, infographics, and presentations. 20% Support internal communication efforts by drafting newsletters, announcements, agendas, and other internal communications materials for presentations which highlight ODIs achievements. Maintain and update the ODI website content so that it is consistent with the ODI brand identity. 20% Responsible for event coordination to ensure everything related to an ODI event is taken care of from start to finish. Participates in the planning and establishment of goals and objectives for meetings, conferences, and/or events with respect to budgets, initial theme concepts and advertisement. Oversees and coordinates the setup, execution, and cleanup of events. 15% Effectively interact with members of the ODI team in a constructive and effective manner to help develop impactful content for the ODI Lines of Business. 10% Monitor and evaluate communications efforts using key performance indicators (KPIs), analytics, and feedback mechanisms to measure effectiveness and inform future strategies. 10% Monitor media coverage and industry trends, compile media lists, and assist in media relations efforts, including drafting press materials and coordinating media inquiries. 5% Other related duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications: + BA/BS degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design or related field. + Equivalent work experience documenting knowledge of digital content design, creation, and/or communications may be substituted for the desired education on a year for year basis; + Possession of a valid drivers license; + Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills; + Superior time management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. Preferred Experience: + Experience with Content Management Systems, such as WordPress. Intermediate skill level or above expertise; + Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and AcrobatPro); + Advanced Social Media knowledge; + Digital and Email marketing platforms (i.e. Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or GovDelivery), intermediate experience; + Proficient Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and SmartSheets knowledge.
