Position Summary The Regional Vice President will be responsible for developing and maintaining a regional practice area with an anticipated annual revenue and net margin goal. The revenue and net margin targets will be agreed to between the Regional Vice President and the President in the fall of each year, reflecting current and projected market conditions. The Regional Vice President will be expected to: Develop and execute an annual regional practice marketing plan to be executed jointly with the company’s business development and corporate marketing professionals. Secure client engagements to ensure the practice’s annual revenue goals are achieved. Develop long term client relationships. Hire, develop, and manage the appropriate professional staff to execute both the client engagements and annual marketing plan. Manage the practice in a manner to build strength while delivering high quality client satisfaction and achievement of annual revenue. Be attuned to market and industry dynamics that impact client operations. Anticipate client needs and develop new service solutions to assist clients in responding to their evolving marketplace. Ensure that projects and the practice are staffed appropriately to achieve margin goals. Ensure that projects are managed and delivered in a manner consistent with Hammes’ Project Management Manual and Operations Excellence platform. Report results and planned initiatives quarterly. Principal Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. Develop, lead, and manage a solid professional practice focused on providing the full spectrum of healthcare project management and facility development services including but not limited to facility planning, pre-construction, construction administration, FF&E coordination, comprehensive project management, staff augmentation, SWOT analysis, second opinion studies, and other related consulting for the following healthcare facility types: Quaternary, tertiary, and community hospitals; Regional, community, and neighborhood ambulatory facilities; Multi-specialty clinics; Ambulatory surgery centers; Cancer centers; Medical office buildings. Work closely with the company’s business development professionals in marketing the practice’s services: Senior spokesperson for the service line. Develop new marketing initiatives. Travel regularly to meet with prospective clients. Develop project fee estimates. Collaborate with Controller and President for approval of fee proposals. Drive the marketing of the service line’s services. Become noted within the region and industry as an expert by: Publishing 1-2 articles per year. Conducting 1-2 webinars per year. Speaking at 1-2 professional association meeting/conferences per year. Actively participating as a committee member on one professional association. Recruit, supervise & manage the practice’s professionals: Recruit and hire new staff as required to support the practice’s growth. Review, mentor, and supervise the practice’s professionals. Develop on-going training opportunities for the practice’s professionals. Develop and maintain a QA / QC program for the practice to ensure the highest quality client communication, services, work product, and billing practices. Ensure that practice staffing is commensurate with practice workload and achieves net margin goals. Perform annual staff performance reviews in a timely manner. Deal with HR related issues as they arise in a professional manner. Maintain client relationships and provide assignment input: Meet with all active assignment clients on a monthly basis during critical phases and at a minimum once each quarter. Provide leadership on assignments to ensure the practice’s professionals get seated properly within the client’s environment and style. Assume leadership with regards to establishing initial project budgets, schedules, and expectations. Assume leadership with regards to resolving significant conflicts or issues. In the fall of each year submit to the President: A brief and concise statement of current client market conditions within your regional market in which the practice operates as well as a statement of what the anticipated market condition will be in the next calendar year. The necessary depth of lead generation and assignment prospects to ensure long term growth for the practice. A list of three to six specific marketing initiatives to be executed by the practice in conjunction with the company’s regional business development and corporate marketing professionals in the next calendar year to ensure that the practice’s annual revenue goal is achieved, and backlog continues to grow. Specific revenue and net margin goals for the next calendar year that reflect both current market conditions and targeted growth objectives. Meet with the President at the end of each quarter to review: Status of client engagements. Prior quarter, year to date, and trailing four quarters on a per professional and overall practice basis: Revenue, Manpower expense, Non-manpower expense, Net margin contribution, New assignments and assignment revenue closed in the prior quarter. Pipeline strength to achieve revenue objectives in the next 12 months. LEAN plan update containing planned manpower actions and initiatives: Promotions, Recruitment, Hiring and on-boarding, Staff training, Terminations. This position requires a detail-oriented person with exceptional technical project management experience and knowledge as well as exceptional marketing and customer relations skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-tasked team environment. In addition, this position requires excellent analytical, written, verbal, and presentation skills. Must be self-motivated and well-disciplined in terms of planning, organizing, achieving annual revenue and margin goals, and establishing and achieving project timeline goals. Must have proven people skills to recruit, manage and motivate professional staff. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job successfully. A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required, and a minimum of 15 years of progressive healthcare project management experience including regional experience (or multiple clients and / or project sites), managing people and financials. Track record in: Recruiting, developing, and motivating professional staff. Managing professional staff to achieve targeted annual revenue and net margin goals. Dealing with various types of HR related issues. Establishing annual revenue and net margin goals and achieving the goals. Developing and executing an annual practice marketing plan. Proven understanding of consultative business practices and approaches versus transactional practices and approaches. Proven ability to work collaboratively with business development professionals in pursuing new client opportunities. Ability to assess market conditions and adjust marketing and operational plans to respond. Solid working ability with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project or other scheduling software, and E-Builder or other project management software. Travel The Regional Vice President will be expected to travel a minimum of 50% annually.
