ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN FINANCE BOARD

The New York City Campaign Finance Board manages New York Citys small donor democracy program and educates and engages voters via NYC Votes. The CFB has enjoyed a tremendous arc of progress over its 30year history and our updated flagship small donor democracy program is the centerpiece of this progress.

We eliminate barriers to participation by providing access to the resources New Yorkers need to vote or run for office and amplify the voices of small donors with New York Citys small donor democracy program.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Public Affairs division engages New Yorkers informs them about elections and boosts their participation in the democratic process. Our strategic goals are to make election information accessible and relevant increase engagement with underrepresented communities and cultivate a team that reflects our core values of purpose curiosity creativity and collaboration. The division includes Marketing and Digital Communications Partnerships and Outreach Product Management and Operations and Public Relations. Our divisions work includes publishing the citywide Voter Guide running the official citywide Debates Program and managing the voter engagement initiative NYC Votes. Within Public Affairs the Public Relations team works with journalists to navigate and report on complex campaign finance issues establishes best practices on communicating internally and externally about elections and voting using inclusive language and the NYC Debates program providing the public with a clear view of citywide candidates positions on voters top priorities. The Workplace Communications Strategist is a new position reporting to the Director of Public Relations and will be responsible for designing developing and implementing internal communications systems and strategies.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Develop a comprehensive internal communications strategy in collaboration with internal stakeholders including a regular calendar of planned updates as well as a structure for adhoc crisis or emergency communications Orient all communications toward bolstering staff engagement Design and drive an internal communications approach that encourages alignment and understanding among staff of the agencys mission goals and initiatives and encourages adoption of policies and systems through clear and consistent messaging Oversee daytoday planning and execution of internal communications system and approach including drafting clear and concise memos presentations intranet content etc. Establish and develop relationships with stakeholders across the agency to ensure internal messaging is aligned across channels and represents consistent and intentional themes tone look and feel Measure effectiveness of internal communications and staff engagement efforts Serve as a resource across divisions and functional units to collaborate advise and align communications planning Provide strategic communications counsel to agency leadership and staff on internal communications best practices

Prior experience with internal communications corporate communications or employee engagement Knowledge of or interest in city government local politics democracy issues

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

46 years experience working in communications public relations journalism copywriting or similar role Experience working in politics government mission or advocacy work

Qualifications : MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelors degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by at least twelvesemester credits (or the equivalent of twelvesemester credits) in accounting auditing business or public administration computer science economics finance statistics graphic design personnel or human resources administration user experience design or a closely related area of study and one year of satisfactory fulltime experience in accounting auditing (including compliance or investigative auditing) business or public administration business analysis computer science database administration economics finance fiscal or economic management or research statistics graphic design personnel or human resources administration user experience design or a closely related field; or

A fouryear high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in 1 above; or

Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 above.
