Junior Graphic Designer – NASA Goddard Earth Sciences
ADNET is looking for Multimedia Specialist candidates to serve as a full-time Junior Graphic Designer within the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Earth Sciences Division (ESD) U.S. Greenhouse Gas Center (GHGC).
As a Junior Graphic Designer, you will play a crucial role in supporting GSFC Earth Sciences’ design and production needs, presenting innovative science to stakeholders and the public in an educational and engaging manner.
Responsibilities:
- Produce graphics and communication material designs for a wide range of outreach products including flyers, posters, infographics, brochures, etc.
- Develop creative graphics to represent complex information in an engaging and visually appealing way.
- Provide graphic content for web, including carousels, cards, and accompanying story graphics.
- Maintain a consistent look and feel across all communications products and brand materials, ensuring that all content adheres to the NASA graphics standards and style guide requirements for NASA and its partners.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience in visual/graphic design, journalism, science writing, communication, or a related field; experience in social and digital media, or a similar field.
- Associate degree with 3-5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Solid understanding of design principles, including layout, typography, and color theory.
- Graphic design skill set / proficiency in static and interactive asset creation and adaptation.
- Background in communicating science to public audiences.
- Ability to work independently and proactively while being an excellent team player.
- Meticulous attention to detail with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lync, Teams, OneNote, One Drive), SharePoint, and Box.
- Proficiency in producing accessibility compliant documents (PDF documents that are 508 compliant).
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (LPR) required, with residency in the US for the past 3 years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 Investigation through NASA.
Desired Qualifications:
- Education or experience in Earth or physical sciences.
- Proficient experience in video design, production, and/or editing.
- Proficient experience with InDesign and Drupal.
- Effective communication skills, capable of articulating design decisions clearly.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- A self-starter attitude with enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
