Faculty (Part Time)—Music Teacher Position (8 hours per week)
Job Description
The music teacher will have a robust background in music theory and training students in choral singing. The teacher will foster a love and appreciation of music and will develop the Chicago Christian Academy choral program as they lead students to worship the Lord with their voices. Our music program uses the Kodály method—an interactive, collaborative, and highly kinesthetic approach to music education. The music teacher will be, or will become, familiar with the Kodály method of teaching music.

- Give timely feedback regarding discipline
- Provide recommendations for students’ musical development
Duties/Responsibilities
- Consistently assess students for progress through approved means
- Study all material deeply to become a “living curriculum”
- Animate material to engage students
- Coach students in a tailored approach to education, helping them invest the talent God has given
- Attend all designated faculty trainings
- Attend all designated faculty meetings
- Observe struggling students and make recommendations to the Primary Teacher
- Foster a well-ordered atmosphere through classroom discipleship
- Maintain a well-organized classroom
- Ensure students are active learners, both mentally and physically

- A deep understanding of numbers
- A love of God’s creation that is communicated effectively
- A desire to train and equip the next generation
- A natural intuition in the classroom
- An ability to be flexible in delivery methods
- An ability to lead a small classroom in a loving and disciplined manner
- An ability to patiently mentor through discipleship
- *Kodály method training, or equivalent experience
*Applicants that do not have a robust background in the Kodály method are welcome to apply but must be willing to engage in rigorous training to prepare for the first academic year.
