The Market Access Region Director will be responsible for leading a team of Account Managers covering the US region. This position can be remote within the region or based in our Alameda, CA headquarters.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  1. Design and develop annual and long-term negotiation, growth, and demand-driving Market Access strategies that influence National PBM and regional payer contracts.
  2. Develop the National pull-through Market Access strategy in the assigned region that influences National PBM and payer contracts and lead a team of regional account managers to gain, improve, and retain product formulary access and demand for ADC’s current product portfolio.
  3. Increase profitability by growing market share and managing expenses through strategic planning, leadership, and coordination with Payer Marketing and Sales.
  4. Partner across the Market Access team to lead the National pull-through strategies and overall business objectives and drive the contracting opportunities and overall pull through of the top GPO / PBMs and National health plans.
  5. Lead and maximize opportunity to drive pull and push through sales via stakeholder mapping, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders in payer organizations.
  6. Negotiate access agreements, contracts, and terms with downstream plans / payers.
  7. Develop annual and long-term payer strategies that align with field sales needs, their customers, and overall health system decision makers in the local region for better patient access for FSL portfolio.
  8. Strategize and lead the team responsible for Market Access contracting and sales to MCOs and State Medicaid Programs.
  9. Train and oversee Market Access activities, increasing team knowledge of the core marketing responsibilities and key business processes.
  10. Overall performance of all ADC Market Access Account Managers, including 1. Prospecting, recruiting, interviewing, and hiring the best person to fill positions; 2. Training Market Access Account Managers in all aspects of their performance; 3. Recommending income levels; 4. Retaining key talent, and when necessary, recommending disciplinary action or termination.
  11. Manage and develop ADC Market Access Account Managers including strategic account management, including contracting and P&L analysis and recommendations, and account management skill development.
  12. Complete understanding of all applicable compliance guidelines and ensure adherence to them by the Market Access Account Managers.
  13. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned Market Access Account Management personnel.
  14. Establish goals for each assigned direct report and monitor progress toward the goals; establish priority of objectives.
  15. Motivate assigned Market Access Account Managers to maximize performance and maintain a proper attitude toward their job, company, and customers.
  16. Conduct annual performance evaluations of assigned direct reports and award annual salary increases.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  1. Four-year university degree.
  2. 8-10 years of experience.
  3. In-depth knowledge of Market Access marketplace (Market Access) or healthcare payer roles in the pharma / medical device industry.
  4. Proven experience in account management, including negotiation of complex contracts with payers or large healthcare systems.
  5. Excellent managerial skills and leadership experience developing and leading teams of individual contributors.
  6. Analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  7. Excellent business and communication skills.

Preferred

  1. MBA preferred.
  2. Experience in health care sales and marketing preferred.
  3. Sales management experience or equivalent.
  4. Formulary access and/or policy and reimbursement experience supporting the launch of new products.
