A law firm seeks a highly skilled Immigration Attorney with expertise in legal writing and appellate advocacy to join its team. This role focuses on drafting persuasive legal briefs, appeals, and motions to reopen cases before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and federal circuit courts. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of immigration law, particularly in appellate matters, and a strong ability to analyze complex legal issues. This position requires meticulous legal research and writing skills to develop compelling arguments that support clients seeking relief or contesting removal.

Duties

  • Prepare and submit well-researched legal memorandums, appeals, and motions to reopen for EOIR, BIA, and federal courts.
  • Analyze case records, including documents obtained through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, to formulate strategic legal arguments.
  • Draft high-quality legal briefs and filings with a focus on precision, thorough analysis, and case law application.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to develop effective case strategies for complex immigration matters.
  • Stay informed about changes in immigration law, particularly those affecting appeals and federal litigation.
  • Manage case files efficiently, ensuring all filings comply with court deadlines and procedural requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in immigration law with a strong emphasis on appellate work and legal writing.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing appeals for EOIR, BIA, and federal circuit courts.
  • In-depth knowledge of motions to reopen and FOIA-related cases.
  • Exceptional legal research and writing skills with a track record of producing high-quality written advocacy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with legal teams.
  • Familiarity with immigration case management software is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.
