ESC has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Apparel Designer with expertise in sweater design to join our team on a freelance basis. This role requires an experienced designer who can develop and execute Fall/Holiday 2025 sweaters with a strong focus on innovation in stitch, silhouettes, and key item programs. The position is onsite in NYC, Monday through Friday, and requires immediate availability through March 7th.

ESC has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Apparel Designer with expertise in sweater design to join our team on a freelance basis. This role requires an experienced designer who can develop and execute Fall/Holiday 2025 sweaters with a strong focus on innovation in stitch, silhouettes, and key item programs. The position is onsite in NYC, Monday through Friday, and requires immediate availability through March 7th.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, design, and develop 5-6 program capsules for Fall/Holiday 2025, showcasing newness in stitch techniques, silhouettes, and yarn innovations.
- Create fully color-merchandised capsules, incorporating pattern development and market trends.
- Ensure designs align with brand aesthetic and commercial objectives while pushing innovation in sweater construction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical design, merchandising, and production, to ensure feasibility and execution of designs.
- Develop detailed tech packs, including specifications for yarn, stitch, gauge, and construction.
- Stay up to date with market trends, competitor analysis, and seasonal direction to inspire fresh, trend-forward sweater designs.
- 5+ years of experience in sweater design within the apparel industry.
- Strong understanding of yarn properties, stitch techniques, gauge variations, and garment construction.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM systems for design execution and tech pack development.
- Experience with color merchandising and pattern development.
- Ability to work on-site in New York City, Monday-Friday for the duration of the project.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
