Job Summary:
As a Graphic Design, Visual Merchandising Intern, you will play a critical role in producing design iterations and materials that support our retail marketing initiatives. Working closely with the Design, Copy, and Project Management teams, you will help translate brand and retailer requirements into cohesive visual concepts for retail displays, signage, and other in-store elements. Your work will help ensure that our products are represented consistently and creatively across multiple retail accounts nationwide.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Production:
Produce various design iterations based on approved art direction, adapting layouts and visuals to different proportions while maintaining consistency with retailer and brand guidelines.
- Collaboration & Project Management:
Work with Design, Copy, and Project Management teams to ensure the success of projects from concept through execution, meeting all production deadlines.
- Creative Presentations:
Present design concepts to internal management and effectively incorporate feedback using solution-based creative thinking.
- Retail-Centric Design:
Concept and design with a consumer-centric retail mindset, ensuring all designs are optimized for in-store environments and shopper engagement.
- Brand Consistency:
Design within established brand and retailer style guides, ensuring cohesive and impactful visuals across all retail platforms.
- File Preparation & Packaging:
Prepare, package, and specify files for print projects, including the creation of print-ready retail signage, POP displays, and other materials. Ensure all files are properly formatted with correct dimensions, die-lines, and resolution.
- Proofing & Feedback:
Provide timely feedback on print-ready files and proofs, ensuring all designs meet the highest standards before production.
- Internal Presentations:
Create presentations or mockups for internal reviews, design briefs, and image retouching, ensuring clear communication of design concepts.
- Organizational Skills:
Maintain and organize artwork files (working and final) on the server for future reference. Keep files organized for creative operations and vendors.
- Deadline Management:
Ensure all design projects are delivered within established deadlines, maintaining efficiency and quality throughout the process.
- Occasional Retail Deliverables:
Design and execute as-needed deliverables and presentations for retailer meetings, trade shows, or other events.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a rising Junior/Senior in an undergraduate degree.
-Must be able to commute to the NYC office in a hybrid modality.
-Must be available for up to 40 hours a week from early June to late August.
- Proven experience in graphic design, particularly within retail or consumer product sectors (beauty experience is a plus).
- Strong understanding of design principles and retail marketing concepts.
- Experience designing within brand and retailer style guides, ensuring consistency across materials.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in file specifications, proofs, and final production.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and incorporate feedback into design work.
- Ability to present and communicate design ideas clearly to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Passion for beauty and consumer products, with an eye for design that resonates with target audiences.
- Must be proactive, solution-oriented, and able to work independently to meet deadlines.
$20 - $20 an hour
