JOB OVERVIEW Job Description Summary: The Office of Communications and Marketing is comprised of a high performing team responsible for advancing the university’s reputation and telling GW’s story through a diverse array of university channels, including digital and web properties and publications, multimedia and web properties, creative services, publications, media relations and paid marketing efforts across the university. This office drives the strategy and tactics for highlighting and raising the visibility of the university’s experts, initiatives, and accomplishments. The Office of Communications & Marketing is seeking an Advertising Associate to manage the advertising campaigns for internal clients. The division combines the communications, marketing and creative services functions of the university. This position reports to the Executive Director of Advertising. Responsibilities include: As an Advertising Associate, you will play a crucial role in understanding the complete marketing mix and utilizing market research, consumer behavior and campaign performance analysis to drive effective strategies. Work with the Executive Director of Advertising to manage media planning/buying and provide account management services for various internal clients at the university. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external digital agency of record to set goals, define strategy and execute media plans and promotions. Manage the billing process for advertisements assigned. Analyze data for advertising performance, web metrics and other data inputs to develop reports, including quarterly campaign reports detailing advertising performance and recommended optimizations. Work with the Digital Strategy team to coordinate paid social media strategies, including targeting, marketing copy, and landing page development. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Media planning and buying experience preferred. Background in developing and executing media plans for niche audiences in multiple mediums (print, television, radio, out-of-home, digital, etc.). Experience with paid and organic social media strategy and targeting on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Reddit highly desired. Proficiency in analyzing quantitative data is essential for interpreting key metrics such as ROI and KPIs. Competency in Microsoft Office. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
