Overview
CTG is seeking a Product Engineer IV supports hardware system solutions for some of the world’s largest retailers. Our support engineers are involved in the entire project lifecycle: they interact directly with our customers to understand and resolve issues. They provide an initial level debug towards resolving technical issues; they collaborate with the development engineering and test teams on problem resolution, and they oversee delivery of fix solutions.
The Product Field Engineer IV is a thought leader in the organization and will collaborate, as required, with internal and external teams to facilitate problem resolution and improve development practices. They may also provide mentoring and guidance to junior and senior engineers based on field experience.
The incumbent will excel in our fast-paced, collaborative, customer-first environment and will contribute in a variety of ways.
Responsibility:
- Performs initial level 3 problem determination debug for POS and Self-Checkout customer issues around hardware, firmware, UPOS & Window drivers. Sets up test environments to recreate issues and test out solutions. Interfaces with customers, technical sales, and development as a part of root cause determination and problem resolution communications. Resolves complex technical challenges requiring a diverse scope of domain and discipline knowledge.
- Mentors junior support engineers and grows technical leadership skills across the organization. Conducts knowledge-sharing or training sessions.
- Consults on and/or reviews release notes, test plans/cases, and functional specifications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years' experience with managing deliveries for multiple clients.
- Wide-ranging Computer Engineering background with experience in system level debug.
- Basic PC architecture knowledge
- Proficiency with Windows- and Linux-based operating systems, including software installation, light administration, and simple scripting.
- Experience with test methodologies and setting up a test environment creating a fully integrated solution.
- Quality assurance analysis and defect management
- Strong analytical skills, problem determination and debugging, attention to detail, teamwork, and excellent communication skills.
- Able to present statuses in a clear concise manner to management and clients.
- Fluent English Language Speaking, Written Skills.
- Retail Domain Knowledge (store operations and POS concepts) and experience with retail POS devices.
- Proficiency with MS Office tools.
