As part of the Regional Security Services team, the Healthcare Protection Officer (HPO) is responsible for the physical and personal security for members, staff, and visitors to the health care client facilities. This includes responding to emergency situations, preserving order, and enforcing regulations related to personnel, visitors, and premises. The HPO protects staff and property from theft or damage and persons from hazards and interference, including the potential for violence in the workplace. The HPO will partner with security and clinical leaders to establish a unified care team to identify and mitigate security and workplace violence risks.

Pay: $43.00 PER HOUR

Travel required: Travel on an occasional basis with some overnight stays. Must have reliable transportation and be available for unplanned travel.

Facility Safety & Incident Response

  1. Respond to crimes in progress and take appropriate action.
  2. Make private person arrests when necessary and within policy.
  3. Lead Code Gray response teams.
  4. Provide a professional security presence.
  5. Act as a safety ambassador for the facility.
  6. Provide campus safety recommendations.
  7. Liaison with administrative and clinical leadership.
  8. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with local law enforcement.

Prevention of Workplace Violence (PWV)

  1. Serve as the facility subject matter expert on the Prevention of Workplace Violence.
  2. Respond to and investigate incidents of workplace violence.
  3. Provide PWV training to all staff.
  4. Stay current on training and trends in the PWV field.

Threat Management

  1. Lead and support threat management investigations.
  2. Mitigate potential threats through collaboration with key stakeholders and the Threat Management Team.

Training

  1. Provide Prevention of Workplace Violence training to staff.
  2. Train and evaluate new officers.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Candidates must demonstrate success working in a highly regulated work environment, accurately analyze situations in a highly complex organizational structure, and reach appropriate decisions based on informed judgment. Candidates must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively manage subordinates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of security, military, or law enforcement-related experience.
  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • California Bureau of Security and Investigative Service (BSIS) Guard Card.
  • Ability to pass a physical agility test.
