THE OPPORTUNITY

The Video Production Specialist is instrumental in putting together beautiful and compelling visual media projects that deliver on mission. This includes a variety of projects for YouTube, social media, and events. The video production specialist must be a creative visual storyteller who knows how to create in several styles including but not limited to documentary, talking head, narrative and motion graphic. This person has experience and aptitude with all parts of the filmmaking process including pre-production, on-set and post. The video production specialist is a strategic thinker who understands audience-driven media production, budgets and deadlines. This person is a self-starter, a learner and a problem solver; one who pays attention to detail, collaborates with others, and is able to give and receive focused feedback. Successful candidates will have an understanding of the needs and culture of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • 45% Video production. Lead or support all kinds of video shoots—both studio and remote, collecting visuals that can help tell a story. This includes:
    • Building temporary sets with multiple cameras, lighting and audio.
    • Going on location to shoot interviews and/or gather compelling, creative b-roll.
    • Fulfilling various production roles on set including director, assistant director, DP, camera operator, prompter operator and more.
    • Working in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.
    • Communicating well with talent and producers.
    • Sourcing resources like additional equipment and set pieces while staying within budget parameters.
    • Balancing a variety of projects of various sizes at the same time.
  • 45% Postproduction. Manage and edit video projects to approval and on deadline. This includes:
    • Establishing and communicating realistic post-production timelines and ongoing project status.
    • Editing video projects for content and visual flow, applying music, graphics and visual effects that deliver on brand and vision.
    • Working through various iterations and refinements.
  • 10% video management & maintenance. This includes:
    • Ensuring video integrity and organization according to established systems.
    • Caring for equipment and overseeing repair when needed.
    • Keeping up to date with current videography processes and tools.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years proven experience in video production with a strong emphasis on filming and editing.
  • Expert-level knowledge of video cameras, lighting equipment, audio recording, and editing software.
  • Proven skill with Adobe Creative Suite including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Express with a solid knowledge of color correction, audio mixing and graphic work. (portfolio required)
  • Proven ability to plan and execute video shoots independently, including setup, lighting, audio recording, and directing talent.
  • Strong video editing skills with the ability to create polished and engaging content.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with motion graphics animation.
