Founded over 25 years ago, Business Link has served thousands of companies and organizations through webinars, events, conferences, and direct one-on-one consultations. In addition to providing services, the Company also manages funding programs on behalf of the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada. Business Link partners with many other organizations in the Alberta small business ecosystem.

LOCATION
Preference will be given to candidates able to work out of Business Links Calgary or Edmonton office. We currently operate in a hybrid working environment, working 2-3 days per week in the office. This role will require travel within Alberta 3-4 times per year.
JOB STATEMENT
The Marketing Specialist is integral to our small Marketing & Communications team at Business Link. Your primary responsibility is to develop content for our bi-weekly e-newsletter, update our website, and support Google Ad campaigns. Youll also occasionally coordinate print and digital design projects such as tradeshow banners and handouts. In this role, you regularly report on email marketing, Google Ads, and web content performance.
You are a highly organized and motivated individual skilled at planning and developing content several months in advance and keeping tasks on track. Youre excited about digital marketing and using AI and other platforms to increase effectiveness and efficiency. As a primary voice of Business Link, youre a strong writer, communicator and brand ambassador.
Ideally, you describe yourself as a driven, solutions-oriented team player. This position reports to the Director, Marketing & Communications and works collaboratively with Marketing and Client Services.
ROLE COMPONENTS
- Develop and implement an annual email marketing schedule.
- Schedule, design, write, and publish bi-weekly e-newsletter.
- Regularly review and update website content, ensuring a seamless user experience.
- Coordinate new ads and monitor Google Ads performance with support from our agency.
- Regularly report on email marketing campaigns and website performance.
- Align content with Business Links marketing plan and the needs of small business owners.
- Develop projects with graphic designers and printers, such as posters, guidebooks, and banners.
- Support marketing budget planning, tracking, and reconciliation.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders regarding marketing content and performance.
- Review and monitor partner organization marketing.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while planning 3-5 months out.
- Drive innovative thinking, testing new methods and technology to keep programs fresh.
- Basic ability to create and edit graphics in Canva or other design platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary degree, or diploma, in marketing or communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience developing content for email marketing and blog posts.
- Experience working with email marketing platforms and CRM tools.
- Exceptional writing skills with experience writing compelling marketing copy.
- Strong verbal communication skills with experience presenting to groups.
- Proven organization and time management skills, including multi-tasking, meeting and prioritizing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive and solution-oriented with the ability to adapt under pressure quickly.
- Detail-oriented and can perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally, working with flexibility and diplomacy.
- Passion for learning new marketing applications and exploring innovative ways to improve processes and streamline workflows using technology.
- Data-driven with experience creating reports and providing actionable insights.
- Experience using Mailchimp, WordPress, Google Ads, Eventbrite, Google Analytics and Zoho is considered an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft platforms (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
