Junior Architectural Designer
POSITION SUMMARY

The Junior Designer is responsible to work with the Designer for projects related to Vertical Works, Inc., Utopian Villas, and Riemer Remodel. Projects for this position will range from new construction homes, additions, tiny homes, and remodeling projects such as kitchens, bathrooms, basements. The work for this position will include but is not limited to floor plans, elevations, renderings, mechanical drawings, window and door schedules, cabinet elevations, and framing drawings. This individual will be responsible to work simultaneously on up to 20 projects with the Designer. You must be highly organized, extremely detailed with your work, and have a high level of self-accountability. It should be expected that this position may include overtime hours to meet deadlines.
To be a successful Junior Designer you must be transparent, follow the process that is outlined for you, and have a high level of motivation for results and deadlines. This person must hold themselves accountable for learning the industry’s terms and techniques. They must be of high integrity and have a strong will for growth as a Junior Designer.

OBJECTIVES:
- Work closely with the Senior Designer or Designer on all construction project drawings
- Develop floor plans that represent wants and needs from the customer
- Develop all elevations and renderings that are part of the project
- Develop product specifications, electrical plans & window/door layouts
- Develop any needed working or detail drawings such as cross sections, framing (floors, walls, roofs), cabinets, structural attachments, etc.
- Assemble final plans sets, customer signoffs, and production
- Assist in as-built drawings at customers’ homes and do on your own
- Understand the projects scope and intentions from the design meeting
- Have communication as directed by the Designer with the customer
- Meet and exceed our customers’ expectations and deadlines for projects
- Conduct research on county and municipality requirements as well as code requirements
- Order sample materials as needed for specific customer requests

- Ability to follow written instructions
- Knowledge of the construction industry, industry terms, techniques, and building practice
- Meet key performance indicators as agreed by the Designer
- Ability to speak clearly and be easily understood, ability to maintain eye contact when speaking with others, and ability to summarize or paraphrase to verify understanding
- Provide daily and weekly project updates to the Designer
- Ability to return all emails and voice messages within 24hrs
- Ability to present yourself in a well-groomed and professional manner
- Have a strong knowledge of technology including smartphones, tablets and computers
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and read a tape measure
- Incorporation of Vertical Works, Inc. business philosophies and best practices when guiding customers, vendors, and sub-contractors
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- GED, high school diploma, or Architectural Degree preferred
- 1-2 years of design experience in residential homes or residential remodeling projects including renderings
- 1-2 years of experience with design software such as Chief Architect-preferred, Softplan, Sketch-up, Revit, or AutoCAD
- Proficient knowledge with Windows, Microsoft Office, PDF editor, and G Suite
- Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or InDesign a plus
- Experience with rendering software such as Lumion, Twinmotion, Blender, or V-Ray a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Working a building trade show 2-3 times per year
- Job related travel time (site visits) would be less than 5%

JOB TYPE: Full Time
PAY: $42,000 to $52,000 per year

PHYSICAL SETTING:

SCHEDULE:
- 8-hour shift Monday thru Friday 7am to 4pm
