The Greer Group is Hiring a Direct Hire Product/Industrial Designer for our client located in Louisburg, NC. The Product/Industrial Designer is responsible for owning the product design process across multiple consumer industries. This includes working collaboratively with engineering, R&D, and marketing teams to take products from concept to manufacturing. The role combines creativity, technical expertise, and project management to deliver innovative, functional, and manufacturable product designs. Key Responsibilities: Design Process Ownership: Lead the product design process, ensuring alignment with consumer needs and industry trends. Develop design concepts and strategies for diverse consumer industries. Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, R&D, and marketing teams to see products from inception to manufacturing. Coordinate cross-functional inputs to refine designs and address challenges. Product Design: Create detailed technical drawings, 3D renderings, and prototypes using SolidWorks and other tools. Design with manufacturability, durability, and cost-efficiency in mind. Prototyping and Testing: Build and test prototypes to evaluate functionality, usability, and aesthetics. Iterate designs based on testing results and stakeholder feedback. Material and Technology Selection: Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for each product. Design using 2D raw materials such as wood, sheet metal, and polymer sheets when required. Project Management: Manage multiple design projects and ensure on-time delivery within budget. Take ownership of product design projects, maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders. Packaging Design (Preferred): Develop innovative packaging designs to enhance product appeal and usability. Sustainability and Innovation: Incorporate sustainable practices and materials into the design process. Stay informed about advancements in materials, design techniques, and industry trends. Requirements: Education: Applicable academic or professional diploma. Experience: Proven experience in real-world physical product design. Proven skills in a workshop environment. Proficiency in SolidWorks. Technical Skills: Skilled in creating 3D renderings. Experience in project management and product ownership. Preferred Requirements: 3 years of experience in designing physical products. Experience in packaging design. Experience designing with 2D raw materials (wood, sheet metal, polymer sheets). Product ownership or management experience. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Successful and timely delivery of design projects. Customer and stakeholder satisfaction with product designs. Efficiency and innovation in product manufacturing processes.
